I wanted to gauge the current level of concern as the federal government continues their advancement rather successfully against money processor and off shore books that specifically allow US wagering.

This is a time like none other in the history of MJs. As a community, I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on the subject? Are the federal government's actions eventually going to "squeeze" sponsorship? Is Madjack Sports immune to the writing on the wall?

Ultimately, as long as games are played, there will be conversations supporting both sides of the line.

So to start, is the upgrade on hold until this plays out?

I'd pay a subscription to this site. I'm sure others would as well.

Whether you put $20 or $2000 on a play you can afford a subscription to this site.

It might keep out some of the negative people as well. Heck, I'd pay for that right now!

Problem with going pay is you cut down on alot of site traffic.

I think we all know where this is going.

Once the gov shuts down the off shores , poker, etc.

Vegas is going to be eventually allowed to sportsbook.

It will be taxed and we will no longer have to worry about shady books stealing our money in the ways we have become accustomed to with payouts and such crap.

If Jack can hang in there until then.

But if there are no sponsors in this scenario then site traffic numbers might be less important.

I sell web/app dev and advertisement but don't pretend to know it all. Just enough to sell it.

:mj07:

You are absolutely correct though. I'd imagine traffic would slow down a lot.

Since I work at a membership club wholesale company I totally disagree with you. I was asked by the CEO back in 1990 if we should get rid of free membership and go with all paid. I stated that if we were all paid that we would get rid of the riff raff, or the bullshit poster as we have here, because it is free. Only serious customers, or serious handicappers would be on Madjacks. Substance vs quantity. That would be a beautiful thing here. I am just saying Jack:0008

Also keep in mind everyone that Jack didn't start this thread. I brought up a pay site. Not him, so when this thread spirals out of control at the very idea, remember Jack didn't bring it up.

Yup, that's where we start.

And, I am currently looking at various opportunities because the site can't pay me like it used to.

As long as there are 3 or 4 sponsors up there in the top left corner, the site will remain and so will IE.

The amount of time I spend here will depend on my new career.

Sad, ain't it? These greedy politicians want ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL the fucking money.

ALL OF IT!

Cant speak for others, but aside from baseball I really dont come here for handicapping/sports. Just like the NFL, there is to much money to be made for it not to be worked out, as you indicate though what is the timetable. I would imagine most of the "guest" that dont wont to sign-up also dont care to sign-up at a book and like myself use locals. If that is indeed the case, I wouldnt imagine a lot of the traffic would disappear.

I guess the guest thing was kinda stupid to say not knowing what percentage of traffic is guest related. Shit who knows:facepalm:

True, but there is a Bar Thread & Mojo Forum that get a few views with no Ads.

This is really an entertainment site, all said and done. Not everyone bets on every sport, I only bet on football, occasionally on horses, or a play off baseball or basketball. yet, for 50 bucks, I would pay that to be a member a year. Hell, even a 100 bucks. If we had 1200 members and a couple of sponsors that were legit? Sorry jack, I do not know your biz like you do.......this may work, or maybe not
