Lost another sponsor yesterday. I'm thinking this site is going to be back where it started for me. A hobby :0003

Is gambling sponsorship the only advertising worth looking into? I should think not. Lots of things start off down one path and end up down another. Options need to be open wide here.

I think this is a great point. I visit my facebook page about once every 5 months. I went there and saw an ad for a t-shirt that said:

"Boyd Aviation - It's All Ball Bearings Nowadays."

Fletch is my damn movie, so I clicked through and got one.

Joker and I have been back and forth with "Tombstone"; hell, we all four were throwing out "Goodfellas" lines the entire round. These are some of the potential groups to go after.

They had a "Lebowski/Sobchak Vote '08" shirt, "Little Jerry Seinfeld" shirt, who was a contender for the Bodega Cock Fighting Title.

Fawk - Stern had "Fresh Balls" advertise on his show. Can you imagine how many of us would buy just for gag gifts at parties?

Or, you could try this:
<object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dfX3aXtRbLI?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dfX3aXtRbLI?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Or, Joker is about to have a pair of aces, perhaps he can train them young:mj07: :

I'd like to weigh in w/ the lurker's perspective. I come here and observe virtually everyday because I enjoy the site and people immensely. I would never pay to come here. I don't think I'm alone on this. And numbers generate ad revenue.

I admire Jack for his stance on touts, but this is a different time. I say get all the ad revenue you can and let us decide as adults whether to pay for plays or not.

And Jack, don't be afraid of real estate. I've had good success over the yrs.. I think hammer and AR have rentals as well. Between the 3 of us there should be some great info to draw from. It can be a pain in the ass, but when things run smoothly, the monthly checks are nice.

As you know, if it were easy, everyone would do it. I say again, I love to come here daily.

I know the term "podcast" doesn't sound like it could bring in a great deal of revenue. but having a weekly or bi-weekly podcast with the Madjack name, could bring aboard some more sponsors. I would try this before a pay membership, simply because of traffic, word of mouth, etc.

I apologize as I know you are being serious, but all I could think about when reading this was:

I like the podcast idea, by Skipper.
I'd be totally interested in getting involved with something like that, were it possible.
I might even be able to arrange some Toronto radio airtime for same, depending on circumstances. Certainly some advertising, if nothing else.

The rest of the schpeel has me agreeing some and contrary otherwise.
Funding books, e.g., has become a big pain in the arse since I began offshoring (Jan'01). My current book still pays promptly and I've dumped those that don't.

Take tout advertising if it will help.
I think I'd pay for some pidgeon droppings before I'd ever pay for somebody's picks--and I'm sure that most members would concur--but if it's going to help you and/or the site then rock on.

The gov't has to be more flexible.
Change is coming. It's going to swing one way or the other. People are getting pissed off everywhere. The internet, ironically, looks to be one of our best tools for the salvation of our liberty.

I think I just made the top 10 corny list.

I agree with you and would rather help Jack consider other ways of gaining advertisers.
