Some truths:

Nothing makes more sense than spending as much on education as possible.

Nothing has been as wasteful and useless as spending on education.

Money doesnt fix all problems.

Okay, I mis-spoke a little bit, and for that you should call me on it. In the "Big Day for us Manson" thread, you mentioned:

"as far as I am concerened they can abolish all our social programs and put it all into the military ."

This is what I was referencing, which is not completely accurate, considering I said you said that ALL your tax money should go to the military. So, for that, I apologize.

I was jumping on the comment you were making, asking what Government program spent money efficiently, while at the same time in these threads espousing taking all of the social program money and giving it to the military. Do you honestly think that the money spent in our military is done in an efficient manner? Surely I don't have to dig up references to excesses and ridiculous spending done by this administration (and others) in our military expenditures over the past few years, do I? We could start with the manufactured war in Iraq, and what that costs each of us every single day, for crissakes. Let alone, the appropriations to questionable connections to this administration, which expands with each war or national disaster.

And, while we're at it...you are supporting this administration and putting more money towards EDUCATION?!? You cannot possibly be serious. Shall we look at the cuts in educational spending over the past six years under this President? Believe me...I am ALL FOR EDUCATIONAL SPENDING. So are most liberals, if not all. Do you really want to go down this road of discussion? Do you want to measure what this President REALLY has done for our educational system?

I'll pause, and wait for a response...

1. Understand that every bit of our taxes spent by our government programs including the military programs are not done in an effieciant manner and never will be period ! But at least if its spent on the military its inefficiantly spent on something I want ...I am tired of paying for other peoples children and discusted that we creeated a generation that believes having a child is the only way for them to get a raise .

2. I would love to discuss education because this administration has dedicated a larger % of tax budget to education than any admin in the history of this country ...go to the Gov.org site that shows the budget ....Yes moveon.org is lying to you ...the Bush Admin is currently dedicating 6 1/2 % more of the Budget to education than any year Clinton was in office ....you really need to stop gettin g your news from a Craker Jack. box :mj07:

Be sure to read all the links in there as well because you talk like the primary source for education funds is from your federal Government which is not only extreamly false but also against the Law ..... Education is the primary responcibilty of states and local governments according to our Constitution.

Well, if the primary responsibility of education is up to the states and local governments - which I don't deny is true or "right" - then can you explain why President Bush dropped the No Child Left Behind Act ON those same states and local governments, mandating spending IN those same states and local governments? Can you then explain why he proposed cuts in that program to fund other items of interest in his personal agenda, and then expects them to fund it? He has dictated that the extra money be taken away from schools that do not have the financial wherewithal to meet the mandated standards by the Federal Government, and given to other schools with more opportunities to fund those same programs - because of location, attendees and local financial backing.

And then you preach states responsibility. Your child will never get left behind, as long as you have enough money to attend the right school. Not only THAT, but let's give those teachers and adminstrators IN those schools a cash BONUS, to boot.

Nice. It sounds good, but it doesn't add up for everyone. Just the select few. And of course they work HARDER than anyone else, too. I know that is why they'll make more money later in life, and be forced to pay exhorbitant taxes. Sheesh, why should they bother?
