Oh what a sweet night. Overall I thought it was very entertaining night of fights.

I thought Shogun set Machida up well. It looked like he was going to have the same strategy but as soon as he got the chance he went Pride Shogun style on Machida. Machida's ground game(on top anyway) is weak. Shogun WILL beat Anderson and this is coming from someone who has said I thought Silva could be the champ in both weight classes. Shogun can take punishment and can do it to get close. Once he gets his hands on Anderson it's going to the ground and Shogun will pound hiim from there.
Kos vs GSP- I thought the first fight was very close. If I remember correctly in the third round it was super close and then GSP got the final takedown to seal the win. I wonder if Dana will make them both wear condoms for protection from each other :142smilie

I don't think Kos/GSP 2 will be boring at all. Both fighters will stand because it will be the first time GSP will be in there against a guy who doesn't soley rely on his hands in some time. Kos knows GSP hands are his weakest point so i see a really good match between the two. all Kos fights are good except last night but he had to fight like that to get that title shot. OH and kick Stout and the split decision :mj07: Cmon man u can't give a guy props because of terrible scoring. First round almost could have been a 10-8. He lost the second and third he was losing until he finally landed something.
Well you said he would do just fine against middle rung fighters. That is what Heath Herring is these days. Do you want them to keep having him fight TUF guys?
As for clowning Kimbo, I saw Mitrione getting abused early and tossed around like a 260lb ragdoll.
The only thing Mitrione showed me was the ability to hang on until Kimbo turned into a gassed log. Hell even Ken Shamrock could have finished Kimbo once the 2nd round started.
I don't think you guys know how emotional it was to see Shogun win that fight and get that belt put around his waste. I seriously wanted to cry..

Well Paul made it quite easy for Dana to cut him.
Before the fight Daley said he had no interest in fighting GSP and he went as far as to say he wanted to leave the organization for another.
Daley wanted out so he figured he might as well take a cheap shot swing at that douchebag.
Reports from ringside say you can't imagine some things Kos said to him during the fight.
On ESPN, Evans asked Kos if he said some things about his mom type trash and Kos laughed and said I may have taken it a little furhter than that.
Kos also said Daley should not be booted from the UFC and this was after ESPN told him that Dana had cut him.

Back in the day I used to have tickets to Sonics games just a few rows behind the bucket. I don't think any athlete will ever be able to top Payton as far as unspeakable, OMG I can't believe he just said that trash talk. I remember him getting t'd up a few times while the other team was shooting free throws because he wouldn't stop running his mouth.
I would look around and see the horror in all the soccer mom's and dad's faces, because they had their kids with them. Graphic anal sex talk probably wasn't what they had in mind when they headed off to the game.
you aren`t being realistic...cardio`s a huge part of the game...i think he pretty much clowned kimbo...beat him down to the point that dana`s probably dropping him..
let him have some fights vs up and comers to weed out the actual fighters(much like what we just watched)...
i think expectations are unrealistic because he was put on a main card as fodder for kimbo in only his second pro fight....and he upset the applecart...
seriously,if you saw mitrione get abused,you`re the only one that was watching that fight..being on your back without taking punishment isn`t getting abused(unless your name is cecil peoples or adelaide byrd)... i don`t think kimbo landed anthing of consequence aside from the first punch of the fight...mitrione was unmarked...
when mitrione was on his back,he defended well(and last time i checked,that`s actually part of the game)....
those kicks were brutal...
the guy`s not a world beater,granted...but after just 2 samctioned fights, he`s not total horseshit either......
until he shits the bed,he deserves a few more fights...vs other up and comers or borderline ufc heavies of similar experience......
maybe he`ll amount to nothing...very possible...but he has a few skills...he had some knowledge of submissions...but he needs some work,no doubt...

I agree that Mitrione showed nice kicks, but Kimbo didn't try to check a single one .
Here is the bottom line:
Kimbo's power is shit.
Kimbo's ground game is shit.
Kimbo's lateral movement is shit.
The only thing Kimbo has is strength and that is shit once he gasses which is 3-4 minutes in.
And yes Kimbo abused(allbeit shortly) him when you can pick up a guy who weighs 40lbs more than you and power slam him twice and then take him down so easily then that is abuse. Kimbo never tried crap on the ground so we don't know what Mitrione's ground defense was like and Kimbo had openings to try something.
And I am not judging him for who he is so much as what he is.
A terrible takedown defender.
A weak ass ground and pound game with no ability to finish.
Those qualities don't work in the HW class.
I would say Mitrione clowned him if he did it from the start, but Mitrione was too busy getting tossed around to clown. Mitrione was losing round 1 until the last minute of the round when Kimbo gassed.

People seem to forget that a guy that played in the nfl has to have some type of world class talent. I was impressed with Mitrione. He took some big slams and could of quit there but like i said u don't play in the NFL if u are a pussy. The guy has nice hands and man i thought those kicks of his had a lot of speed on them. A lot of speed. The guy actually looks like he is having fun out there. I thought Kimbo was gonna quit a few times from those lethal leg kicks. A man that big kicking like that is imressive to say the least.
