Well someone hammer down on Carwin so the line will go down to 150 for me. I wasn't even considering taking Brock until the line started moving. It's steadily gone from a small play to a very big one if I can get 150 or lower.

I'd like to get -150 or less, too, but I'll still hammer it at 160. I was willing to hit it hard @ -190; since its been dropping I'll be hitting it to win a dime whereas at -190 I'd have been on it to win a nickel...

"the bunker"
an observation...was laying in bed last night and tuned in to the tuf finale replay.....

re-watched leben vs simpson....and maybe it`s my imagination, but leben looked a good deal bigger than i remember him looking...much more buff...i mean MUCH more buff....

he`s a bit thick waisted genetically, but,he was packing a good bit of muscle on his frame...his trunk(shoulders/chest/abs) were actually quite defined....

he didn`t tire...took everything simpson threw(many right on the button) and after the first 2:50 of the first round, was shrugging takedown attempts off like he was shooing flies....when he was taken down,he popped back up pretty quickly vs a very high level wrestler...

now he`s taking another tough fight on a few weeks notice...

i wonder if something`s going on here?...not an accusation...but physically,he didn`t look like the same guy that fought jake rosholt...

maybe i`m wrong...but physically, leben looked like a real athlete..a big, strong 185 pounder..i mean he`s a strong persistent guy...but i don`t remember him looking quite that big and strong..when they exchanged he punched right through simpson(not so shocking)....and by mid-second round was throwing simpson around like a ragdoll...

..and he didn`t tire one iota.....

Carwin is very upset that he is only getting 40 thou for this huge fight with a 40 thou win bounus if he wins. Another disgrace with the UFC. Word on the street is that Carwin refuses to promote the fight and is very pissed off at this. Carwin is also not getting any percentage for the payperview buys. 40 thou that is it, unless he wins for a fight of this magnitude, good grief. Im sure Lesner is getting 5 hundred thou tho. Ufc is also pissed off that Carwin let out how much that he willl be paid because this never happens. The UFC should be embarrassed about this. Not pissed at Carwin. A 12-0 wrecking machine gets 40 grad. Anyone know if Dana finally bought that third sky scrapper in LA? The one next to the other two they bought?

Sponge....I said all that in the "StrikeForce thread". Zuffa has always had a problem with Carwin. That has been going on for over a year now. That is not really news. Only thing different is that it is highlighted now because he is fighting Brock.

It makes Carwin even hungrier to win, he would like to "stick it" to Zuffa. There are lots of guys in UFC that don't like Zuffa, but if you are good Zuffa ain't going to cut you. The entire Zuffa brass has hated Kos from day 1, but that doesn't change anything when Kos fights, same holds true for Carwin. Only difference is Carwin is a nice guy and Kos is an asshole.

Of course you could always go fight for the scum bags in DREAM or the corrupt M-1 Global:142smilie

Carwin will beat Brock

He shouldn't have signed the contract then! Everyone has choices. If wins here then his next contract will get him big dollars and if that doesn't happen then it's his own fault. He didn't have to go to the UFC and they didn't have to let him fight for them. Just because someone gets good doesn't mean they should have to pay him more, they took a chance and so did he.

Carwin is a different animal because he is one of the guys who can actually think for himself, something Dana and Zuffa frown at. Usually guys in this position like Carwin always seem to lose. Mir beat Lesnar and for the rematch Mir still got pennies compared to Lesnar. Why piss off ur guys when u are making millions off of them.

So Lay what u are saying is that one of ur producers, produces big, and u just keep stepping on his neck and keeping him down without rewarding him when u know that his name is bringing in huge money the night of the fight? Usually when u produce people appreciate it. Not really easy to negiotiate a contract with someone who basically has a monopoly on a business.

If i was Carwin and i won and my contract was up i would only sign one fight deals. Imagine Mayweather getting 20 million and MOsey having to settle for 25 dollars. Heck even boxing isn't this ignorant.

What if Carwin would have lost his last few fights? He still would be getting his 40k even though he might not be worth it. Not sure about boxing but aren't they on a fight by fight basis so he could be getting way less because of his losses and no relevance.

I'm a big Carwin supporter, but you have to admit, he was relatively unknown to most fans until he knocked out Mir. He has not been the guy that sells tickets and isn't the reason people are buying this PPV...even a decent performance aganst Lesnar will elevate him to a higher pay scale, so he just needs to relax a bit. I do think he is getting the shaft, but his pay day is coming, as long as he doesn't get destroyed in a matter of seconds. He will benefit in a big way from being the guy that steps into the ring with one of the most popular MMA fighters in the world.

This sport still depends on big names and the UFC rewards the guys that draw eyeballs. It isn't any different than the movie industry where supporting roles pay shit while the stars get rich.

Yeah, let's be honest, Lesnar is the lightning rod here. People aren't tuning in to watch Carwin, they're tuning in to watch Lesnar either kick ass or get his ass kicked. The casual fan wouldn't care very much if it was Carwin vs. some other fledgling heavyweight. Carrot Top is to comedy what syphilis is to relationships, but he gets paid exponentially more than most comedians who are actually funny.

I saw Carrot Top in Vegas and he was funny:shrug:

Also, Carwin can do what Fedor did and fight Hong Man Choi and Matt Lindland for a ton of money.

No, Carrot Top is not funny. :nono: Prop comics are hacks. Kickserv banned 60 minutes for setting comedy back 10 years by saying Carrot Top was funny.

So Cal
I made fun of and ridiculed Carrot Top for twenty years. Then I saw him once and he is funny.

On another more cogent note, how have long layoffs (Lesnar) produced in significant comeback bouts? And do you think a layoff it is tougher for the big guys than the smaller ones?

To me Carwin is a big draw in this match. Yes Lesnar is by far the biggest draw but to basically say Carwin isn't is nuts. How about giving him a bigger winners purse if he wins? To me another 40 thou is insulting in a fight of this magnitude. Tell the guy he gets 150 thou more for winning. Make him want to come. Make him want to talk about the fight. Don't piss the guy off when u don't have to. Is another hundred thou gonna kill the ufc? Another hundred thou they might not have to pay if he loses. Okay i with you guys on the contract he signed but no way am i with the fight "if he wins" bonus. It is down right insulting. I wouldn't promote the fight either.
