I was going to unload on Dos Anjos but I heard he has been sick during training.
The one thing you don't want against Guida, is a lack of cardio.

:toast:
I am going against my better judgement and unloading On Dos Anjos :scared

I have watched a lot of his fights and he is very versatile, both standing and on the ground.
He also has his own relentless takedowns and his stamina seems good over 3 rounds.

Fuck it!!! :toast:

Almeida and Fitch for me
I also think Dos Anjos, JDS, and Silva will win.

Brazil will go 4 and 1.

I have got Dos Anjos against Guida. He has the edge in submission and striking. Only worry is if Guida gets on top and grinds out the decision win.

Also have Hazelett over Story. Not the best striking but is better than his opponent. On the ground he is on another level.

Got Almeida over Hughes. Hughes is on the downside of his great career and is still very capable of taking anyone apart from GSP, Askren and Koscheck down in this division. But Almeida is a high level grappler with better submissions and striking. Only worry here is his cardio.

Also jumped on Saunders. Hallman is a submission machine and I think he will have his moments in this fight but I see a knee from Saunders ending his night.

Also added JDS/Nelson over 1.5 and Silva/Sonnen over 2.5 to make it 6 plays for this card

might as well throw down...

almeida-160(brobury)...on the supposition that the real hughes is the one that dana figured he had to throw a bone to with the renzo gracie fight......i mean c`mon...renzo gracie?....since when was renzo gracie any kind of real factor as a fighter?....even in his prime he was mediocre...so he`s got a fricking school...so does gurgel....means absolutely zilch...and the fact that he was coming off a 3 year layoff?...he was pwned by old frank shamrock before the d.q....

they knew what they were getting with renzo...

seriously..that was an embarrassment...was hughes really that far gone?....i doubt it...but apparently they weren`t taking any chances...

which makes me wonder "why this fight"?...do they think they`re throwing hughes another bone?....do they think that hughes` win in a grappling tourney in 2000(in which almeida just assumed guard and lost by -1 point) translates to a sure win for the h.o.f`er here?...

the fact that hughes is in relatively tough has me wondering...why?....

do they see almeida as a safe opponent?...

his 3 losses were early in his career via strikes vs andrei semenov at 185(no dog...he`s a solid fighter...wins over kampmann among others)...vs patrick cote at 185(split decision)....and a dq vs. lindland early on....

he has wins over eugene jackson/punk minowa/chonan...and a surprisingly easy win over nate marquardt....in his first bout at 170,he completely dominated matt brown(no biggie there)....

i watched some video(which i can no longer locate...f-ck you dana)and his stand-up isn`t all that bad,imo... easily on a par with hughes...

he loses this if his grappling mentality takes over and he decides to assume guard and settles for that...

could happen... but almeida specifically asked for this fight...i have to think he shows up....i hope...

hedged with hughes wins 3 rd decision at +313...

parlay:...devon alexander(boxing)/hendricks/saunders at even money....like it..i see smallish, one dimensional(and old) hallman having serious problems with saunders offense and clinch game....hendricks aces brenneman`s trump card(wrestling)...

very small on big country...just for fun...

was looking at hazelett as a small dog...but now he`s faved....might par him with the over in spinks/bundrage(boxing)....not sure...

and of course,i`m ridin` dirty with wee....:toast: ...

More of a worry is the Fukin Judges!!!

Guida got top position on Diego and his offense consisted of bleeding all over him while eating elbows and defending subs, yet those blind, incompetent fucks still had it a close fight???

Judges and refs are 2 of the things I hate most in life.

Lucky the "Baldy Bellboy" had rich friends or he might have given up his thriving boxercise empire to become a judge :mj07:

All right coming off of a perfect UFC Versus Card has me over confident but here goes:

STRAIGHT PLAY:

Rafael Dos Anjos(-115) over Clay Guida for 115 wins 100.

PARLAY:
Jon Fitch
Rafael Dos Anjos
Ricardo Almeida
100 wins 482

PARLAY:
Ricardo Almeida
Junior Dos Santos
100 wins 99

PARLAY:
Ben Saunders
Johny Hendricks
Ricardo Almeida
Junior Dos Santos
50 wins 120

I am screwed if Matt Hughes wins but I think he has NO CHANCE. :0corn

This could be a great card for madjackers or a terrible one.....

Why you ask????

Because..........

95% of all the selections are the same.....the madjack crew is all over the same plays

fyi...

i think lindland was easily outwrestling almeida in their bout prior to the d.q....

it was at 185..but if my memory serves me,lindland was handling almeida...

GW, I think earlier in the thread you said you thought Almeida should be a bigger fav and I said something of the sort that Hughes is dangerous but you know after your last post you had me thinking back to when and why I had Almeida and some of his previous fights, he's a stud. I've been on him a couple of times and when I did bet on him I was very confident. I'm not sure what happened to me and why I don't think as highly of him now. The ONLY thing I can think of is his cardio seems bad. I'm not sure if it was just getting use to fighting again or what but I know I really worried in a couple of his fights because he looked so gassed. Talent wise I really do think this is a lopsided affair. I may join the room and put some coin on him as well. My worry is I have so much riding on Fitch, I don't need a bad night. I've been grinding away in the range I'm in for a while.

i`m pretty sure i never said he should be a bigger favorite...if you can pull that quote up,my bad...but i don`t recall saying that...

i did say that i grabbed this wager when it first came out on the gut that "this" hughes is a tad long in the tooth...that was in a thread long ago and far away...:D

these fricking jits/grapplers just love pulling guard,,,and wrestlers just love taking top position...lets hope that almeida is aggressive....trying to grab a submission is like trying to hit a homerun...if you go in thinking all or nothing, you usually end up with nothing...

he needs to think "i`ll win this one round at a time"...

that`s what`s making my teeth itch here...`

a columnist wrote""i`m predicting that a country boy can`t survive ""......

i hope he`s right..

i`ve been watching lots of video...and tell me if i`m wrong...did hughes look much more buff and strong earlier in his career?....

thicker?....more heavily muscled?...his neck....jawline...legs...

he looked like a beast...i had forgotten...

check his ring walk in the first video....

could the advent of serious driug testing have had some effect on him?...

Yeah he is in all 3 of my parlays and can kill them all but I figure 250 in parlay plays as opposed to the -200 straight play on him just to win 100 makes it worth it.
I just don't think Hughes has much left.
And if you had not heard, he is a prick.

I already have a nice sized play on Hughes @ +155 and will be adding to it closer to fight time as the line should continue to climb. Played this to start the night off. Good luck to everyone tonight and may we all see some great fights....:toast:
