We have to remember that Jones' was a fill in and not in line for a title shot. the last time this
happened was for a title fight was Silva/Maia.

Everyone knew Maia was going to lose so the UFC didn't bother promoting Maia at all for the fight,
because they knew it would just be a waste of money.

Now it's an almost identical scenario but they have been promoting Jones all over the place, putting
a lot of money behind him. Dana like to to "brand" fighters like he did with Lidell and GSP, and thats
what he is doing with Jones now. I don't think he would bother with this if he didn't think Jones was
going to win, and not surprisingly the oddsmaker heavily favors Jones as well.

I think the plan for Jones all along was to give him a title shot, but later on down the road. Dana and the UFC wanted to get the most value out of their high payed light heivyweights like rampage and rashad first.

But now they have had to move Jones' along faster because they had to, or otherwise risk blowing the entire event. And before people get on me for not giving Shogun enough credit as a ifghter, I just thinks jones is possibly the worst stylistic matchup for Shogun.

It is also in the best interests of the UFC to have a champion that lasts for a long time and I think jones fits that bill more than Shogun at the moment

shogun backers, are you concerned?

Barboza is someone I can't wait to see. The kid has excitement written all over him. For some reason I love watching the fights where guys pound on the other guys leg. What Aldo did to Faber's leg was awesome. You pretty much take their whole game away if you can pepper it enough.

IMO it's getting very interesting with the strikers coming up vs the wrestlers coming up. I really wonder where BJJ will stand in a few years. Wrestlers have gotten to the point where they seem to be able to nullify it to some extent and the good strikers just don't go to the ground vs the good sub guys. I would like to see bjj continue to evolve.

Hell yes I'm concerned. If you knew how much money I had riding on this fight you would understand. I come on here and go back and forth with people because I love to debate things but in the end betting is an investment for me and it always comes first.

He allowed Forest Griffin to side mount him multiple times, take his back multiple times, and get choked out.

And that is Forest Griffin.

And who are the "best wrestlersi in mma history" that he has faced. Kevin Randleman? An extremely aged Coleman?

The first time he fought coleman he was running around the ring on his hands and knees like a pig, trying to escape him.

Other than that he has only faced strikers.

He had a torn acl against Forrest, do u not get that? LOL. He was gassed, and on top of that he was just rolling and rolling.

Some of the best wrestlers?

Here you go...

Arona, Rampage, Coleman, Randleman, Liddell...but let me guess, you have an excuse against all of them...

You really are stuck in the dark ages, dude.

Read yourself back that list. Are you serious with this?

Come on man, it's 2011. 2011.

not concerned at all. but you should be. afterall, you've backed yourself into a win or bust and go into obscurity debacle.

the only worry i have with Jones is 2 things....

#1 he's a wrestler and #2 his coach is greg jackson. wouldn't be shocked if we saw 5 rounds of an attempt at laying and praying.

however, i'm confident in shoguns ability to get off his back, as well as staying active off his back.

personally, i wouldn't be shocked to see shogun go for the shoot and put JONES ON HIS BACK

Will my opinion count for nothing if Jones loses?

I don't see anything really worth betting excpet for Jones. I would've bet Schaub if the price was better.

I like Jones/Rua to go under 3 rounds but the price isn't worth it either. I would bet under 2 but I can't find it.

The way i see the main card:

Schaub vs Crocop - Schaub by KO

Cropcop is just finishing out the remaining fights on his contract. He is getting absolutely no respect from the oddsmaker wo not worth a bet. Schuabs hands looked really good against gonzaga, and schaub is a guy they are trying to promote because he was on TUF. An easy fight against a big name is what they give these guys to build them up.

Dan Miller vs Marquardt

I hate Marquardt. He should win this fight, but he is the type to drop the ball in situations like this. I can see him losing a decision if he comes out flat but I still wouldn't bet against him.

Faber vs Wineland

Not touching this. Would love to see Faber lose though.

I do.

I think Barboza is going to run WRECKAGE all over Njok. Barboza is a vicious kid. Better striking technique and better on the ground. More versatile.

Always dangerous with two strikers, but I think Barboza will be victorious.

Agreed. He knows what he is doing. He is also huge for this weight class

open an acct at 5 dimes...you can parlay mma(straights/props/over-unders)....it helps even out the odds a bit .....gives you a little more leeway to place some "action" wagers in case you aren`t a hardcore, big money guy(i`m very cautious)...

i would seldom bet a fave if not for 5 dimes parlay options...

He couldnt even hold rampage down.

If I'm not mistake he only took Page down once. I don't recall him really trying to hold him down after he moved from full guard. Maybe I'm not remembering the fight correctly. Shogun liked to get people down and then they where fighting to get back to their feet he would kick them. Maybe you're right and he was fighting to hold Page down and couldn't do it but I don't think that was the case.
