I don't think Fitch will win but again we're talking about gamlbing and odds. Because of that I think he's close to being the play here.

Of all the wrestlers that GSP has faced, Fitch has the best standup. That could be the big difference. Both Hughes and Kos are weak standing and where so scared of GSP standing they couldn't defend the takedown. Kos didn't lose to GSP very badly, really it was a fairly close fight until the last minute of the 3rd. I think Fitch is a far better fighter overall than Kos and I think he can make this close.

Again, I think GSP will win but I'm not sure I want to laythewood to bet on him. And I've laid some serious wood on some of his fights. This will be his toughest test to date.

i won't be laying anything either. i just won't take the bait on those generous odds. No play for me.

"the bunker"
don`t know whether fitch wins or not, but, imo, today he wipes the floor with matt hughes ....and if he fought penn,i`d take fitch again...

that`s right...i`d take him vs penn....

the guy has a complete game. he can wrsestle, box ..has height....toughness...
and look at this roll he`s on......

chris wilson
diego sanchez
roan carneiro
fiorvanti
thiago alves
burkman
brock larson

he lost his 1st mma fight...and to 205 lb wilson gouveia....hasn`t lost since 2002...won a little over half his fights by stoppage...and a little under half via decision....

imo, this guy could givie gsp as much hell as anybody thus far......if serra can do it,this guy certainly has a shot....and this isn`t in canada...

sorry kick...this looks like possibly gsp`s toughest fight to date...

i expect gsp to have enough, but,i won`t be totally shocked if gsp is pushed to the limit or even loses....

You guys put to much stock in the Serra loss. If you watch that again it was GSP slipping that put him in a bad position to get hit. It happen the first few times he got cracked. Who knows what happens in that fight if he didn't slip. I have never been impressed with Fitch's hands. He is lucky he didn't get knocked out his last fight. The guys is tough no doubt about it. I just think you need something special to beat GSP right now. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this goes 4 or 5 rounds.

You could have said this same thing about Shirk until he faced someone with more talent which was Penn.

No.... never thought of saying Sherk could beat Penn....... to refresh memory i laid near 2.5 units on Penn at -240.

Sherk had no chance. Fitch has a good chance.

I change that post. You seemed to be a little testy lately:mj07: I wasn't the guy throwing around these biased bans.

Raw.......go to mirror and repeat:

"Fitch ain't faced anyone like GSP"

....there that should do it.

GSP better in every facit of MMA.....there is NOTHING that Fitch can do...NOTHING that will scare GSP....this ain't going to be that close of a fight. It's done by the third....GSP will completely dominate Fitch. And I have said this 100 times:

GSP is incredible....no weakness, NONE. And GSP has had his bad loss......it ain't going to happen again. This fight is all GSP, all up to GSP, and will be won by GSP.

WARNING: kickserv taking in too much helium again. :dizzy:

Havent seen any standup confidence from GSP in his past few fights.... who knows if he can even throw a punch anymore. Not that it would hurt anyways. :SIB GSP hasnt even considered standing w/ his past few opponents w/ the exception of Matt "pillow hands" Hughes.

That said, GSP will (again) be looking for the takedown, and Fitch will be prepared to punish him. GSP getting way too much for his borefest victory over Koscheck. Koscheck made no sweep attempts whatsoever to escape side control/half guard... none.

GSP obvious choice to win. Obvious. I lika my bet on Fitch to pull the upset.

Oh..... and GSP by ground n pound is not gonna happen. If fight is stopped, it will by GSP by sub or Fitch TKO. :yup

Yep. Rawli never backs down :mj07:

Rawli doesnt have as much time to confront idiot logic as he used to (not from u, Sponge, just in general... and i dont mean that seriously -- i love this forum, it's the only MMA forum i take part in).. See, Raw has a job now that he has graduated and can only stir the pot on his days off (like today) :( .... so I gotta make the most of it when i can.

Generally kick takes care of idiot logic by banning, but in this case it is kick himself that has lost it. :142smilie Fitch is a good play for 1 Gina IMO. :SIB

Luv ya, raw

Thanks Bucs. Can you recommend a light parlay with your picks? Im going to be watching the card, just want to add a little excitement while im watching with a small bet.

If I were going to parlay this card, this is what I'd go with,(i dont know the odds either)

These are the only 3 fights I'm confident in without betting with my heart. So I'm going with the brain:

Kongo-McCrory-Saunders....

I'm half tempted to throw Andre Gusmao in there as well, but I don't like the idea of betting on 2 UFC debut fighters who like to swing. I just don't know how they'll handle the nerves, etc...and who knows, someone can land a lucky punch, or the others technique is off because of their nerves.

Raw.........my bans are always well thought out...and quite fair........in terms of GSP....rules are also very simple:

You can talk negative about my mom, you can talk negative about my dad, but never ever say anything negative about GSP.

If GSP wanted to he could cure aids, fly, and solve all the conflict in the Middle East. Yep, he is that impressive:SIB

Yep......I love my GSP, he's my boy :142hump:

Also.......if you pay very close attention.....when GSP walks into the octagon he always says "kickserv, this is for you"......yep, right before Buffer introduces him, he gives me a shout out. Love that guy....yep...love him:00x30

Raw i know he is tough that is why i said what i did about comparing him and GSP to Shirk and Penn. I just think one is a bit better. The way GSP handled Koshcheck wrestling ability i see nothing to fear with Fitch and his wrestling ability. GSP is a whole different animal Fitch will be taking on. Also the granite chin? I have some doubts about that. He got rocked his last fight and i almost thought he was gonna lose. Cote and Margarito have granite chins. Not sure Fitch does. Then again im not so sure GSP has punching power.

More...... more stirring the pot :mj07:

Fitch has a granite jaw... it was tested against Chris Wilson, but Fitch recovered nicely... and Margarito is in a different sport, so he doesnt count. :nono: All Marg has to worry about is blows to the head.. and his opponents sure as chit dont wear 4 oz. gloves.

And, yes, GSP is Fitch's toughest fight to date (likewise for GSP... i only say that b/c BJ Penn didnt have the professional training regimen that he does now when he fought GSP), but GSP isnt a completely different fighter than a Diego Sanchez, who Fitch beat by decision. Dont get me wrong, im not comparing GSP to Sanchez, but they r both well-rounded and each have technical skill.

As for Koscheck, his loss to GSP is comparable to GSP's loss to Serra....... both individuals have changed as fighters since those losses. Koscheck has shown he learned a lot from his loss to GSP and he trains with Fitch daily, which couldnt hurt. And, yea, GSP outwrestled Kos in their fight, but Kos would beat the living chit out of GSP in a straight wrestling match. But thats the thing, this aint wrestling, this be MMA. And Koscheck had no reason to think GSP would take him down.... we now know that GSP can get it done anywhere.

Just my thoughts.

Good news is we will find out this Saturday. :00hour Can GSP handle the pressure?? He didnt handle pressure so well against BJ Penn..... What will happen if GSP's takedown attempts get stuffed this time?? Will he panic and choke if the match turns out to be a striking game?? Who knows? Thats why it's called gambling.... All i can say is that I LLLLOOOVVVEEE odds on Jon Fitch. LOVE EM!!!!

I'm sorry, but GSP does have a weakness. It's the fact that he's a mental midget.

But as far as fighting goes, his striking isn't anything to write home about. Matt Serra hit him so hard and so many times that GSP started tapping. Matt Serra isn't the most fearful striker in the world.

See, this is the things that drive me nuts about the GSP nutthuggers. GSP is a product of the weight class he's in. The WW division consists of wrestlers and guys who like fights on the ground, an area that GSP is very good at. He's also not used to fighting guys who are bigger than him either. GSP is nothing but a myth, it's only a matter of time before it comes to a hault. I can only pray that he loses this weekend, and you simply vanish for awhile with your tail tucked.

See, I can show face when GSP wins, because my hate for him is well documented over time, and I have no problem discussing the fight at hand. However, with you, you've made it so bad and put so much pressure on the guy that simply, you will have to hide whenever he loses.

Finally, what the hell does one fighter being afraid of the other, and vise versa have to do with it? I think it's VERY clear that Fitch isn't afraid to fight, and same goes with GSP, I think. It's not a matter of that, it's a matter of executing your plan and executing the fight.

Wanderlei Silva would be undefeated by your "big balls" analogy.

Sean Sherk admittingly said he wanted to prove to the fans that he wasn't afraid to stand, and wanted to show people a different element of his game.

Well, while I do think Sherk would lose no matter what game plan he took, he most certainly didn't take the right game plan. So, therefore, your comparisons I don't think hold much weight.

Not sure what fight you were watching. Serra landed those punches. Since you watched the fight so closely, did you manage to see GSP starting to tap out at the end?

LOOOOOOOOL, what a pussy.

He landed the punches to a fighter that slipped and lost footing. This cannot be denied. Serra got a huge break when this happen. I don't know what is more laughable. Your hatred of GSP or Kicks Love for GSP.

My comparison has nothing to do with what you are saying. Im talking about two athletes and one being a little better. I get the same feeling with this fight. the only person that was gonna beat BJ that night was BJ. Same with GSP. Look i don't care who wins the fight because i won't wager on it. If it was even money i would take GSP. I sure wouldn't take Fitch no mater if he was ten to 1.

Bucs.................yep...I'll hide huh. I have been posting here since 2002, keep an accurate record and am the first guy to make fun of myself when I am wrong. And I am wrong a lot.

You on the other hand have been posting here for a short time......and actually have posted "how much money you won" AFTER THE EVENT IS OVER. And you don't care about odds:mj07:

Yet....I am going to hide.......now that's funny:142smilie

I can overlook your moronic comments about GSP. I mean you might not like him, but EVERYONE AND I MEAN EVERYONE THAT KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT MMA would put GSP in the top 5 pound for pound fighters on the planet. You not only hate him (which is funny) but you don't respect him.

Can't wait for you to come in after the event is over and tell us how much money you won:142smilie

Hate GSP all you want, but he's top 5 in the world......stick that in your ass and deal with it.

Night........you have to e-mail Jack/IE, they will give you Bucs e-mail.......but make sure when you e-mail him you send him a picture of GSP:142smilie
