It really depends on the bar.......I have watched a PPV event three times at sports bars. One time it was ok because sound was not high enough. The other two times it was great because they had the sound super high. Although when Mir beat Lesner I was watching at a bar and almost got into a fight with a bunch of WWE fans. Won't get into details but had to run away after Mir won because the 8 of em were about to attack kickserv:142smilie Made a ton of money on Mir though, but almost got a beatdown because of it:142smilie

Also, have watch 3 UFC events in Vegas and that's a tad better then any sports bar:SIB

Oh and it is official.....Rich wins with ease....thanks weinerdog

Square special baby....square special

CRO CROP the farmer better win, if he can't win this fight then him, Chuck, and Pulver need to go bowling together and discuss a couple things.

SQUARE FRANKLIN.....SQUARE FRANKLIN BABYkurby

why is velasquez a favorite over kongo?

the speed advantage?

cain started as a dog at some books.

kongo hasn't faired well against wrestlers, for example, marrero and herring. kongo's wrestling appears to have improved, but cain's wrestling is beyond anything that kongo has ever seen.

some folks think that velasquez is the next big thing at heavyweight....

yep...even more so than carwin or even lesnar...

he`s got very good stand-up and his wrestling is exceptional...he seems fearless in there....

still,he`s very inexperienced...and not all that tall(6'1").....kongo`s a dangerous fight for him...he could get caught....but as muhr pointed out, kongo struggled some vs nerring and marrero...and even given his inexperience, velasquez was a prohibitive fave over herring....

this is a much tougher fight...no doubt...

i`m riding velasquez at -130...probably wouldn`t fool with it at -200(maybe par him).....

the guy has that feel about him...this is an excellent, tough test...we`ll find out alot about velasquez this weekend.

I think Kongo is the better fighter, and will win. To think Cain Velasquez the next big thing at Heavyweight more so than Lesnar is not very smart.

Why's that? Lesnar isn't the next big thing, he is the current big thing. So, that leaves room for the NEXT big thing.

Cain is going to smoke the big man. I love watching Kongo fight but Cain is a dynamic wrestler. He's not just good, he's really good. I guess we'll have to see if he can eat some punches from Kongo in order to get him to the ground. I would be suprised if Kong uses his kicks much, it would expose him to takedowns if he does. You never know, Kongo has power so he has a chance.

Okay, maybe it was just a misunderstanding by me then! I was assuming that Brock hasn't really "made it" yet in alot of peoples eyes. That's why I labeled him as the next big thing. Sooo, I can buy what you're saying then....

You bring up a great point about the punches because it seems as if Cain does eat alot of them in his previous fights just to get those takedowns....

I really like Kongo(hate his ground game, but has gotten better)....

i'll have to rewatch cain's fights to confirm this, but i don't recall him receiving many punches in his fights. in fact, he's outstruck all of his opponents handily, whether he's on the outside or closing the distance. word is ,however, from those he trains with that he's very durable.

what i meant is that he is typically moving forward and tries to clinch up(to go for the takedown), and when doing so, you're going to take a few punches...

i like Cain alot, and maybe he is the future, but i think Kongo is without a doubt his toughest test so far...

"the bunker"
was there a line that was put out for Cain-Heath?

just curious as what the number was or would be

checked my pending parlays with the velaquez/herring fight and i had velaquez at -380...herring dropping out, although a good thing for the card, cost me some money...given the way that jake o`brien took herring down(and kept him there),i seriously doubt that herring was beating velaquez(barring a fluke)....

"the bunker"
which brings me around to denis stojnic vs stefan struve...this guy stojnic is about as tough as they come...he took incredible...i mean incredible punishment from velasquez in the first round and was still fighting back....

http://www.kfight.net/MMA-Videos/Denis-Stojnic-vs-Cain-Velasquez-UFN-17-fight-Video

his opponent, stefan struve(who i took a small flier on sight unseen vs jr. dos santos...lol)was destroyed in around a minute...

http://www.mmaroot.com/junior-dos-santos-vs-stefan-struve-ufc-95-fight-video/

i was thinking that maybe we had another danish semmy schilt in struve given his impressive record, but i think i was way off...

i`m wondering if maybe stojnic isn`t just too tough for this long, lean struve?....or maybe struve is just too tall....

not making a prediction...i`ve only seen one fight for each guy...i noticed the odds have moved back and forth on this one...

anybody know these guys?...

btw...dos santos might be a guy to keep our eye on...6` 4" with extremely quick hands...

My only bet will be Franklin 3u.
I rarely bet MMA. I see it much more unpredictable than boxing, but this one I like.
I guess it will be stand up fight and Silva's punch resistance has gone. Franklin is much closer to his prime than Silva, also.
I'm taking the trip from Croatia to watch this one live. It's my first time I'll be watching big fight card live so I'm pretty excited.
Good luck with your bets guys :toast:

I agree 100%. What made Silva great was his recovery time when he got cracked. Now he has NO recovery time as he now go's to sleep.

Franklin has never had a chin of steel so no bet for me.

I think Velasquez is going to punish Kongo and I loved his opening odds of +140.
I don't like -200 anywhere near as much.

Hope you have fun at the event :mj06:
