The early SH goal was key. Still not playing that well, but doing what they have to against a greatly outmanned Panama team. Hopefully they keep playing the last 20 and not give them any chances. They should keep trying to score as goal difference will likely determine the winner of this group (of course they may be better off finishing second if Germany does not win the group). I expect one more.

I guess I started bitching too soon as usual.

Easy to do!

Grinding back today.

England game is tough. I placed a Tunisia +1.5 bet days ago mostly based on not trusting England to perform well. I am going to hedge this very slightly by playing a small England 2-0 exact score bet at +400. Will stick with another FH draw at +130. If we get another 0-0 FH draw I will bet England in the SH. This play has been money today. All very small as I do not like this game much so I am not giving up today's gains.

Not the FH draw I expected, but I will take it.

England could easily be up 3 or 4 to 1 here, so I think I have to take them in the 2H -200. I hate playing that price, but I just do not see them losing after that first half. Also the Tunisia goalie looks very shaky.

England finally came through in the 2H (and still got Tunisia +1.5) for what was a very good day for me, finally. However, I am still not a fan of this English team. They got nothing in midfield. No #10, no creativity, etc. Simply do not understand Ashley Young starting. I just do not think they are as talented as everyone believes them to be.

Onward and upward!

Right now all totals for tomorrow sit at Ov 2 -115.

I think these are all affected by how other games have been going, but not sure we see the same tomorrow.

Columbia can score. Really like Rodriguez and Falcao. Japan has a Bundesliga centric team that has some good players but tends to let in goals.

Poland and Sengal are good offensively. I think both teams will score in this game.

Egypt has to win this game to have any chance so they have to be aggressive. Russia, still sucks in my opinion, but should be feeling very confident after game 1.

I am playing all the Ov 2's tomorrow. May see a push or two but I do not see 1-0 games.

Leaning towards Columbia -140 but just not sure they can be trusted as the South American teams, as I expected, have not looked great to start. I also think Egypt offers some solid value at +300. More on these likely later.

Bason and PK... agree on Poland and Egypt as well as the Poland/Senegal over. It looks like there's a chance James doesn't play for Columbia tomorrow. Not sure if that will matter vs Japan.

I agree, but Poland scares me a little bit which is why I like the over better. African teams have not been that good so far, but Senegal is the best of them in my opinion. But you never know what team is going to show up. I may add a Poland play but it will depend on how the first game goes. Today I bet game to game, FH and HT and it paid off very well. Going to do the same tomorrow.

DZ, where did you see that about James? I assumed he is going to play and he is the key to that offense.

I just heard it on the postgame today after the England match. Could be a crock, but they said he had been training by himself away from the team and that he was getting checked out for something. Saw one outlet reporting "muscle fatigue" but I will search around for some more info.

Here is one article online:
World Cup news: James Rodriguez doubtful for Colombia vs Japan

And some more from BBC:
BBC coverage
How to follow:
Watch live on BBC One from 12:30 BST; listen on BBC Radio 5 live; text commentary on the BBC Sport website

Colombia will make late decision on the fitness of star midfielder James Rodriguez, who has been nursing a muscle problem.

Left-back Frank Fabra was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his knee earlier this month, so Johan Mojica is set for his first competitive cap.

Japan forward Shinji Okazaki has been nursing a calf problem in recent days and is unlikely to play.

Mainz's Yoshinori Muto or Werder Bremen's Yuya Osako will play instead.

Coach Akira Nishino could leave out Keisuke Honda, 32, who has gone 21 months without an international goal.

Winger Takashi Inui, who will join Real Betis this summer, scored twice in Japan's final friendly, a 4-2 win against Paraguay, and that could earn him a starting berth in Saransk.

My guess is that if his fitness is in any way in doubt, the thinking could be that they can afford to hold him out in this match against bottom-tier Japan, while letting him rest up for the tougher opponents in Senegal and Poland.

Thanks.

I just took Poland in a PK -150. Line just showed up on my last check so I grabbed it fast. Was surprised to see it. A draw is certainly a possibility here, but I do not think Poland will lose.

Soccer-Colombia talisman Rodriguez in doubt for Japan showdown
June 18, 2018, 12:03:00 PM EDT By Reuters
By Angus MacSwan

SARANSK, Russia, June 18 (Reuters) - Colombia talisman James Rodriguez, the sensation of the last World Cup, is a doubtful starter for Tuesday's Group H opener against Japan in Saransk.

Rodriguez, the top scorer in Brazil 2014 with six goals in five matches, missed a training session in Kazan on Friday due to muscle fatigue. His left calf has reportedly been troubling him.

"We are waiting to see what the doctors will say after the last check," Colombia coach Jose Pekerman told a news conference.

Great expectations have been placed on Rodriguez as the spearhead of the best generation of Colombian players since the 1990s. He won over many neutral fans in Brazil for his spectacular style -- and his salsa-dance goal celebrations.

But his club performances since 2014 have been inconsistent and he is currently on loan to Bayern Munich from Real Madrid.

Pekerman insisted several other players could step up to the mark should Rodriguez not take the field on Tuesday.

"We always wait until the very last minute before we decide," Pekerman said.

"World Cups are played after a very heavy season. It is true some players arrived here in Russia not feeling very comfortable. They have all improved very much, even if some of them are a little tired."

One ace up his sleeve is striker Radamel Falcao, Colombia's all-time top scorer. "El Tigre" is raring to make his World Cup debut, having missed the 2014 tournament through injury.

Pekerman mentioned Jose Izquierdo, Juan Quintero and Mateus Uribe as potential matchwinners.

"We have enough players for all alternatives," he said. "Our team is much richer, much stronger (than in 2014). We've got much more flexibility."

If Rodriguez's absence would disappoint Colombia's legions of fans, it would be a relief to Japan coach Akira Nishino.

Colombia walloped Japan 4-1 in the group stage in 2014 on their way to the quarter-finals, with Rodriguez among the scorers.

"He is almost like a symbol of the Colombia team, a points-getter, a mood-maker," Nishino said. "It is difficult to mark him. Who is going to mark him? The whole of the team. We cannot give him time or room....he is everywhere on the pitch."

With Colombia ranked 16th by FIFA and Japan 61st, "Los Cafeteros" (the Coffee-makers) are favoured to win. But Pekerman made clear he was not under-estimating the Blue Samurai and their quick, fast-breaking style.

Group H, which also features Poland and Senegal, is one of the more open of the tournament.

"We think Japan is going to be a very tough team. We have completely forgotten what happened in the last World Cup," said Pekerman, an Argentine who has managed Colombia since 2012.

"In the short term our main aim is to go through to the next stage. The group phase is really tough. We'll see what happens this time. We hope to be at least as good or better than four years ago."

Good stuff DZ. I will keep my ears open.

I am going to add the FH draw at +110 for about half my over bet in the first game. Like this when the total is 2, especially at + money. If it hits, it helps cover a potential Under for the game (unless it is a 1-1 draw!!) and I can take the winnings if I want and put it on the team I think wins the game in 2H (was 3-0 today). If I lose the FH bet, then I have at least 1 goal towards the total of 2.

Again, a lot more bets than I usually like, but this is more or less my job right now so I have the time to do it.

Navarro has to be the worst announcer in all of soccer (and that is saying something as many of these fox announcers are really bad, including their golden child Stuart Holden). He is just plain horrible. All hype no substance at all. There is a reason none of the Mexican channels will hire him. Loving Telemundo right now. In fact, Telemundo's coverage is significantly better than Fox's.

1-1, perfect FH result. Hit the draw and already have push on the total. Given the red card, I am not making a play in the 2H, will simply hope there is a goal to hit the Over. Japan has to change the way they are playing if they want to win this game.

Employing same strategy in Poland/Senegal today.

Taking FH draw -110 with my OV 2 bet. I bet FH for about half the over bet. See no reason to change this up right now. Will then look at halftime line.

Already have Poland in a PK.

That was a total cluster fuck by the ref. He should be sent home. You can not waive a player on if the opposing team does not have the ball. I have never seen that and I have been watching soccer for a very long time. He also has no control over this game. Wait til Sengal starts flopping all over the field.

This is what I have been saying along. This ref is from Bahrain and has absolutely not right being in this tournament. None. This is precisely what is wrong with FIFA.
