No halftime play here. Will take FH winnings and hope Iceland gets a second half goal as they look like the better side.

Congrats to Nigeria. They played a great second half. Will be an interesting final day in that group.

Just making the FH draw play in the next game and will then see if there is a halftime play. I do not like the game that much so not going to risk much on it.

Saturday

Looks like a day of reckoning for me one way or the other. I like all three games and I like all three favorites. Certainly looks square but all three look solid to me so will lay out some money tomorrow. Not my favorite thing to do but this is how the plays line up.

Belgium -280/-1 - They are clearly better than Tunisia and they will not want the game against England to mean much. Tunisia was dominated by England who simply could not finish. I think Belgium will finish. If this moves to -1 I will play that as well as I think we see a 2 goal win here.

Germany -210 - I know, this is predictable and it could be my downfall, but I expect Germany to bounce back here. They also get an opponent that is not very dangerous for them. After their win, Sweden will play very defensively and hope for a counter or two as they are likely happy with a draw, but I think Germany will break them down eventually. Germany looked slow and un-athletic in the last game, but Sweden is not that athletic either. Germany has not lost back to back WC games since 1958 when they lost the championship so I will take my chances here. The last time they lost their opening game they went to the final. Must win game for Germany. If they lose this game Low will have to stay in Russia! I think the -1 -110 is also fine to bet, but I likely will lay it here.

Mexico -150 - Some think Mexico will suffer a let down in this game. While I do not expect them to be as good as they were against Germany, they do not have to be. Its a perfect set up for them and I think they will take care of business. Would be different id they drew Sweden second. Plus I really do not think much of South Korea. I also like the Ov 2 in this one.

I will keep a close eye on lines. Will likely drop some plays tonight and more as we go tomorrow depending on results. Do not want to bury myself again with Germany but they are the last game so if the first two go well I will play them rather big.

That Mexico line bugs me, it's still -140 and i'm pretty sure it's collecting bigger than that share of bets

it's like x14: all over it...

About upcoming 3rd round matches.
Croatia coach said they will rest booked players in last qual group match so they are all available in first play off stage. I'm sure other teams will do this too. Card count will be reset for the semifinals.

Mexico money is starting to come in and the over is getting hit hard as it has moved to 2.5. If they were playing anyone else but South Korea I would be hesitant, but I think this is a perfect set up for them. Have a feeling they will show up, but we will see. I played it about an hour ago at -140 and I now see -155.

I think it is really going to depend on the game and situation, so I would not recommend playing them all. I think it is tough to bet in games where absolutely nothing is at stake (Egypt/SA) or where one team has to be more aggressive (Iran). Those games, in my opinion, are more open to goals. I will try to note in my plays where I think that play is worth a shot (like Russia/Uruguay). I try to post my opinions on every game, but I do not post every play I actually make. FH and HT plays have played a big factor for me this Cup which is very unusual for me, but my slow start and nature of play pushed me that way.

I see no play in the 2H of Mexico game. Very likely to see at least one more goal here as S Korea has not choice but to press but this should set up some Mexico counters. Feel good about Mexico play so no need to complicate.

Great start to the the day, so while I definitely think Germany wins this game, I am not going to go nuts since there is some doubt on how they will play based on recent results. I am going to bank some profits and play some -1 so I do not have to risk more than I want. Also want some money in reserve if we get a FH draw. Little conservative for me, but plenty of opportunities coming so no need to be too aggressive.

I will also closely monitor how the game is going as I want Germany -1.5 against S. Korea. If Germany wins, this line will get hit right away as they will need to beat them badly in order to ensure goal differential in event of a tie.

If, and still a big if, Germany finishes second in the group and Brazil wins the group they play in the round of 16! Would be epic. Brazil certainly does not want that to happen but the way their group is now they have to win to assure advancement which will also likely be a win of the group unless the Swiss win very big. Nothing seems to go the way you think in this tournament, but Brazil/Germany in the round of 16 would be awesome!

Oh, and the bottom part of that bracket could potentially have the top 3 ranked teams in the World!! Plus, maybe Poland or Columbia. That would be nuts.

I love this tournament!! And we are just getting started.

Nothing really to add but just like to share w you when I win on soccer! Been a really good day today.

I went and donated plasma this morning...had a coupon and got a bonus they give out..so made $70 for about an hour of "work".

Recorded the games and had Belgium -1 1/2....Belgium/Tunisia Over 2 1/2...and parlayed Belgium/Germany @ even money. If there's one thing I've learned in recent history...Belgium is damn good...sneaky good. Nobody thinks of them but they are really good.

Got back and watched them kick ass! Then I remembered I had forgotten to take anything in 2nd game...so I log-in and in the 60th minute (more or less) I take S Korea + 1 1/2...immediately Mexico scores and goes up 2-0. Ugh! I watch the remainder and feel so bad about that bet...it was -190 also and just stupid...and then the Steph Curry of S Korea hits a freaking 30-yarder! From way downtown....BANG!! What a goal...or as that announcer said it so beautifully as he always does....GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just now hedged on my Germany parlay...small amount on tie and small amount on Sweden. These are my 2 favorite teams in the thing...I always love Sweden and I'm of German descent and love them too...West Germany...lol. At work we actually have this old screwdriver that says on it "Made in West Germany" haha love it

And I took Over 3 in that game too. I think Germany is gonna win and score a lot of goals....maybe 4-0 or 4-1 final. We'll see. If I get at least 3 goals in that game, its a huge day. Even if I don't, its a pretty big day.

Thanks for all your plays. I haven't followed a lot this time around and I have been reading and taking some of them. Love sharing my day w you and everyone! I can't wait to see Sweden play Mexico!!

I'm so glad I hedged. I'm at halftime now so its 1-0 Sweden but I'm slightly behind.

I don't really care who wins, betting wise, b/c of the hedge...just hoping for 3+ goals...but would actually love to see Sweden win and set up that match w Mexico and get Sweden to the Round of 16!

Also wanted to mention that I hit Switzerland yesterday...both line and moneyline and that was a lot of fun to watch too! I recorded it and watched it when I got home from work.

Again, not bragging, just like to share and totally appreciate all you guys' soccer information. I mainly watch twice every 4 years and this tournament has finally picked up and the last few days have been awesome!

I think Belgium wins it all and the Mexico/Sweden winner could be dangerous. Ronaldo always dangerous too and I might put a very small amount on Argentina to win it all, if the payout is right. I know they are a longshot to even get to next round but if they squeak in and Messi starts playing right...I haven't done my research but I think they are still alive...loss and tie I think so far...I'll check.

Good stuff Touch, glad you are taking the time to enjoy this and thanks for sharing.

Wow, what a goal by Kroos to save the day and the Germans. Maybe that ignites this team. I think S. Korea is in deep shit next week and I just hit the Germans -1.5 in that game pretty hard.

Great Saturday. Going to open up a bottle of Michter's 10 year old and start enjoying the rest of the day!!

Will try to post for tomorrow before I get hammered but leaning towards England -1.5 and Japan Ov 2 for now. Not a huge fan of England, but say it with me: Panama SUCKS!

I agree. Should be a Germany blowout and Sweden is gonna have to win by 2 to advance...if they win by 2 and the goal differential is the same (provided its just them and Mexico tied-I know a lot can happen)...what is the tiebreaker? Head-to-Head?

I'd really like to see Sweden and Germany both get in but I like that Mexico team too. I was so torn but was almost pulling for the draw...almost lol.

And yes, what a goal indeed...I loved the short pass to set up a better angle and run a little visual interference between ball and goalie...looked like the guy was holding for a field goal attempt lol

I also can't believe Germany did all of that in the last 10 min or so w only 10 players. I know Sweden really wanted the tie so I don't blame them...oh so close. I hope they beat Mexico.

Drink a little bit for me and enjoy! I just put a little on Germany...its up to -2 (-130) and after I placed, it went to -145...ugh...I just can't see Germany not taking advantage of it and I can't see SK really being 100% into it. We'll see!

I've prob said it before, but I do wish they would tweak a few rules to improve the game. I wish they would stop the clock for goals and substitutions...I know its part of the game but I hate to see the deliberate time-wasting...it happens in all sports but there is more of a set way to do it...you get 40 seconds in football, 24/30 seconds in basketball, etc. Just something I'd like to see change.

One thing I love though, is how for example, the Germany/SKorea and Mexico/Sweden games are played at the exact times since its the round-robin finale...so its more fair that way and I guess can do some scoreboard watching but there is no advantage gained by, for example, seeing what Sweden did, and then playing accordingly...or vice versa.

I just love the format of the world cup...the round robin followed by the tournament. Its fun the way even if you struggle, once you make it to the round of 16, it becomes survive and advance...but the first round is meaningful for both advancing and seeding. Its a lot of fun. I'm enjoying it for sure!

Goals scored is the third tie breaker, then it is points head to head and then goal difference in head to head.

Germany will win that game by 2 goals. I hope some hit it quickly as that line is getting pounded everywhere right now. I just hit it again at -160.

I am putting in England -1.5 -125 and Japan Ov 2 -130 now. Maybe they move the other way overnight, but I am comfortable at these numbers. Putting a little more on the Japan Ov as that is my favorite play tomorrow. A lot of people seem to think this will be a tight close game, and I think they are right, but I think we will see goals as Japan's defense is not very good and Senegal like to attack. A win is huge for either team so I think we will see some aggressive play. Pulling for Sengal as I have a bet for them to win the group!

My play on England is a much a play against Panama as it is for them. I also have plays on Panama to finish last and score 0 points (which I am a little concerned about given Tunisia's motivation in the last game). After watching Belgium roll, I am hoping England can make a statement, but my guess is we will also see a lot of missed opportunities, but I do not expect Panama to score. I think they are simply the worst team in the tournament.

Thanks! The Germany game should be a fun one to watch.

I'm gonna go ahead and get England and the Japan Over...supposed to play golf in the am (Par 3) so I should be able to record and watch kind of like I did today!

The payout is not good at all but it should hit for a small gain. I think the ratio is 1/2.4 (24 wins 10)

Germany/England parlay. I almost never play something like that but like you say, Panama is horrible and England is decent and really needs a win. Germany is way better than S Korea...I'd be shocked if this doesn't come through but can only put so much on it to make it worthwhile w/o risking all my winnings.

Curious movement on the Poland/Columbia total. Not sure why the Under is getting hit hard here. I just saw it move to 2 in places. Both teams have to win, especially if the Japan game is a draw. I think the last 11 games for Poland have had at least 3 goals. Going to keep my eye on it but do not see a 1-0 game there either way.

Oh, and Panama sucks!

Panama's performance, or lack thereof, further shows and emphasizes how truly bad the United States performance in qualifying really was. It is truly embarrassing that they did not qualify in a group where Panama does. I have been very hard on the US team and US Soccer in general, but this is why. Panama is the worst team in this tournament, so if the US was not already ashamed, this should seal it.

No halftime play, hell, not even sure how to set a line. Will take the winnings and move on.

I did hit the Columbia line Ov 2 and will likely hit it again if it comes back (it went right back to 2.5 after I bet it). Got it again at -130. Again, will be very surprised if we do not see at least 2 so I like this bet.

Great FH, no second half play, will sit back and hope for Senegal goal. If it ends in a draw I like the Over in the next game even more as they have to win to have any chance to advance.
