"My confidence in Matteson has been increased further by news from our man in America, Harry Emanuel.

Harry 'The Hat' revealed that prior to the Sony, Matteson took his motor home down to Palm Springs to practice on a couple of the courses and it's now parked up just opposite PGA West."

Every assessment I saw caddies-reporters and 2 weather sources had winds we 20 mph-thurs 15mph--and little or no wind fri and sat.

I don't mind last weeks totals- after being basically covered after 3rd rd only to get extreme winds 4th rd and play over 4 shots diff as your taking a chance on projections 4 days out--

--but such a gross error on 12 hour projection is extremely rare.

All guys teeing off at CC have to play SR next day--which means getting hammered two days on the draw--and all 72 hole wagers were made with those playing toughest 1st 2 days vs those playing easiest 1st 2 days.

Last years scoring ave on CC(5th rd) in winds that were project for today was 74.46 vs the 69.97 they had with no wind yesterday--thats 4 1/2 stroke turn around on 1st day alone.

Would not surprise me to see the wind come fri and sat and reverse the anticipated

Was kinda funny yesterday--Had to go to office in Madisonville and wasn't aware of how tourney was going--get home about 3 flip on tourney and 1st thing I see isplayer next to water that looks likes glass--and 1st thought was WTF

Daniel Chopra to beat Robert Allenby -125 @ Carib
A couple of 67s around the Classic Course for Chopra provides hope of a recovery today and Allenby is a player who rarely does recover well in round 2 from such a lowly leaderboard position

Nathan Green to beat Robert Allenby -115 @ Pinnacle
Will also oppose Allenby with Green who is in 23rd position, so is much more positive heading into today and beat Allenby by two shots on their debuts on the Classic Course last year

Mike Weir to beat Justin Leonard -120 @ Pinnacle
Both players have played La Quinta in each of the last four years, but Weir averages 2.75 shots lower around this course

Eric Axley to beat Lee Janzen -115 @ Five Dimes
Janzen has been in a similar position only once in the last couple of years - he was 3rd after the opening round of the 2007 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am - he shot 81 in the 2nd round en route to missing the cut!

I think the winds and cold weather picked up to end the round today. The guys still out on the course really struggled coming in.
