Weekend picks so far
Odd weekend, and I'm not sure the bookmakers knew what to make of some of these fights... Late lines and numbers all over the place.
I'm backing 4 guys, some straight up and with different combinations of parlays. I'll list them them from strongest pick first:
-Humberto Soto I don't think this fight will be very close, and I was pleased to see initial odds. We know what Diaz is. He will give it the old tough-guy try, but it will not be enough against the skill of Soto
-Alfonso Gomez Castillo has gotten himself reasonably together with a few fights against Mexican veterans. I think he will put in a good try, but he will find Gomez too big, strong, and young. 147 just too big for the former great. Gomez no world-beater, but I think he's got enough here.
-Sam Peter Peter appears to be giving it another serious go, and I don't think Nagy is the guy to derail him. Nagy's win against ridiculously shot Maskaev doesn't mean much, and other than that he hasn't beaten anyone. (Imagine if Maskaev had gotten a shot at Vitali.) Nagy may have some potential, but this fight comes a few too soon for him.
-Paul Smith Smith a slightly higher class here. He will not have it all his own way, but he should find the means to grind himself out a win.
I've got some more going, but am still waiting for the o/u's to appear on 5D. I also haven't gotten into the Pacquiao-Clottey fight yet... There are some prop bets that I am finding interesting, but am still thinking some things over.
more to come...let's get'em boys!!
