Chuy Rodriguez isn't a bad little fighter and may get himself to the finish line in this one. He went the route with Mike Alvarado and was never in serious trouble. One judge actually had that fight 97-93. But I'll probably lay off this one.

Thanks for the input Graham, the Miranda line is indeed dropping, I just got some at +300. The Dapudong bout is only available at 5D currently, among the big sites.

I agree, it is a tough call Kramden. I just like Alexander's accuracy against a busy puncher.

interesting from Graham: while Latimore fought superbly, I did note while watching on Wednesday Night Fights that Powell had a ?lethargic look? ? and after the fight Powell tested positive for marijuana, which removes some of the gloss from Latimore?s win

Unless Powell had smoked on the day of the fight, the marijuana should have had nothing to do with his performance in the ring. Pot's a less debilitating drug than alcohol. The biggest problem with it is that drug tests can detect if you've smoked within the last 30 days. I'd much rather bet on a boxer who occasionally takes a puff, as opposed to one who drinks alcohol regularly.

As a personal aside (and since I'm anonymous), I'll tell you that I was a collegiate athlete, and I was in the best shape of my life while smoking marijuana every day. Unless I smoked within five hours of a practice or an event, it had no effect on my performance. On the other hand, if I drank on the night before practice or an event, I was in bad shape (so I chose to puff and hope that I didn't get randomly drug tested).

I don't have time to do previews for the site but a couple of under the radar fights caught my eye. 1: Miranda vs Pongsaklek. Miranada is on a run of KO wins and Pongsaklek had hard fights with Naito, losing to him the last time they fought, and I do not think that Naito is any more talented than Miranda. The site makes it tough for the Mexican guy, but visiting fighters do on rare occasions win in Thailand, and it helps that Miranda can bang. 2: Edren Dapudong vs Bert Batawang in the Philippines. Batawang is the much more experienced guy and a southpaw, but he was beaten up by Ulises Solis and he is 37. Dapudong gave Muhammad Rachman a tough fight in Indonesia, when he almost got a draw, and Rachman is a rough handful and an ex-champ. I believe that Dapudong is the house fighter on a Braveheart promotion. It's a youth versus experience thing and Batawang has to be favored, but I give the younger guy a good shot.

Much appreciated Graham.
I was already on Miranda SMALL
I am going to go MEDIUM on Dapudong....I think being a Braveheart promotion matters a great deal

Cheers and good luck this weekend

I was thinking about Davaryl Williamson...he's a reasonable price.

He's 40 years old....but the opponent Carl Davis is some midwest nobody...and 35 years old himself...

Evan tips Jacobs to beat Varela Under 6.5.
Jacobs really looks to have some serious skills.

I gotta agree with Evan here. Even though 6.5 is not a lot of time, Jacobs is Golden Boy's next shining star (they hope)...he looks damn solid

and Varela was bouncing all over the ring against Julio...I think Jacobs is much more fierce than Julio

Davaryl Williamson is faster, more athletic and more powerful than Carl Davis even at 40. The big problem here is that Davaryl Williamson's chin is bad and can be knocked out by quick punches he doesn't see.

On the other hand, Carl Davis is slow, plotting fighter that comes forward without using his jab. Also, I think his KO record is inflated because the fights I watched he didn't have a ton of power; it was more a matter of weak opposition.

I see Davaryl Williamson putting Carl Davis to sleep with his big right hand as Davis walks in without a jab.

I'm going to bet SMALL on Carlos De Leon Jr. to beat Allan Green Saturday Night.
+500.

Green has been fighting nothing but bums since Miranda whooped his ass.
Green can't fight as well as he talks.

I don't like that De Leon was stopped by Primera. But, I will take my chances. McCary had Green completely gone. Green has fought 4 shot fighters in a row. At least De Leon is young and can punch.

I just took De Leon Jr. small at +600 and the Under 8.5 big at -115 yesterday when it first came out.

Both guys have one punch power and can be hit. This should be a great fight to watch. I just hope it is not like the Miranda V. Green fight which I was sure wouldn't go the distance, but since they didn't start fighting until the 2nd half of the fight Green somehow survived.

De Leon seems to be getting a lot better as a fighter and now has a little more skill to go along with his power. Also, with all of Green's health problems (colon cancer), I have to wonder if he will be the same fighter he was 3-4 years ago. If De Leon can hurt Green like Donny McCrary did, De Leon will finish him.

Another big plus for the Under is that this fight is at 168 and Varlea's normal fighting weight is 154.

I'm having some second thoughts on my Spinks bet...I might just buy it back..

Anyways, there are so many lines this weekend its really incredible.

Luckily I got some nice openers at bodog: Miranda+ 350, Dapudong+285 and De Leon +600...I'm also pretty confident that Jacobs will stop Valero...might add a few bucks here...

Hope all three hit !

On a week with so many fights, you really have to do your research-try to avoid spreading the money too thin. I feel good about Jacobs, too.

Plays this week

-large on Miranda
+425...I like Mirandas attitude going into thailand

-over on mgee -140 9 1/2...good odds for a chick fight. Neither been stopped.

-under Genady Goluvkin+145 7 1/2...big gulf in class. I like the Khasak fighter to overwhelm the American w/padded record.

-under Balzay 8 1/2 -180...Masoe is 42 and recently stopped in 4 by a tomato can. His last go, he barely eked out a sd over another tomato can.

-lopez,peterson, dawson parlay -190

futures- lrge ward -170, dawson -600

Im staying away from spinks. He probably wins a dec but he's taking more shots each time out and i dont think hes got a great beard. In life and death with zab, mayo, karm, verno.

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!

translated from notifight.com:

Weights from Thailand:
Miranda 111
Wonjongkam 112

"Mexico's Julio Cesar "Pingo" Miranda in achieving his dream will this Friday April 24th when he faces the dangerous and experienced Thai boxer Wonjongkam in the dispute Mosca Interim championship of the World Boxing Council.

The weigh-in event was held at Paolo Memorial Hospital. "Ping" was reviewed by the physician in the presence of his rival and vice versa.

Upon completion, Miranda was interviewed on this battle and said he was convinced that the scepter will travel to Mexico, dedicating the fight to the whole country up to President Felipe Calder?n.

"I'm hoping the time of the fight, and I want to be there, I want everyone to see my country for television, will move to live send me your good vibes, because I not only fight, but the entire country against Wonkonjam and Thailand.

Of its rival, Miranda said he knows well and who has studied and no problems to overcome, in fact going for the knockout the myth that Thailand has to kill the other to win.

"By whatever means, knockout or decision, I'm going to win Wonjongkam is what are their weaknesses and I will make the best, I feel that Mexico is proud of me, what I came to Thailand to do" , who emphasized Miranda has 28 years of age.

The Aztec warrior says this acclimated to the city, where it resides in Monterrey, the temperature is similar and apart from Tampico at sea level, so no problem.

"The temperatures are equal, I have no problem with that, I concentrated on the coming fight, to win in Wonjongkam, will be a merit good," the native of Tampico."

I wagered the max to win 4250.00. I like his attitude and he's very confident. I really think we have a decnt shot here.

Just read that Chavez Jr will be fighting Jason Lehouiller in his next go...Bob Arum is so full of sht. After every fight he promises a name ranked opponent. They won't touch anybody that can punch their their way out of a wet paper sack. The Chavez Jr sham continues. Angulo tears this joke up in 3 rds or less....except the fight will never happen. Just had to vent :mj07:

Spinks has been a gold mine for me and still remains my Number 1 win v Mayo. I put dwn a k to win 4 several yrs back. I was fortunate to get spinks v zab in I and I took Zab in II. Took the over vs the aging Verno last yr. I thought jt would ko him and lost a little on that one as well as losing a little on Karm. Spinks ran a marathon in that one and I thought Karm deserved at least a draw. Anywhos, he never had a great chin and he flat out puts on his running shoes when pressured. I havent seen Latimore but i give the guy a good shot at the upset and wouldnt be overly shocked to see him get a stoppage win. If I can see Lat/Powell on youtube I might make a play. I wouldn't touch the over. Last yr I said I took the over only because verno was 39. I think Spinks can be had. I just dont know enough about Lat to pull the trigger. Kenny Adams says they are going to KO Spinks.

Good links Ghost...nice to see that Sulaiman was involved in picking the officials for Miranda! Nothing like having Sulaiman in the loop when a fighter from Mexico is going for the title :toast:
