After the fact, but I thought Sexton had a great chance here. The best thing Rogan had done was beat a punched out, old Skelton. If I remember correctly, Skelton was absolutely taking Rogan to school making him look like a fool, but just couldn't quite get him out of there and ended up punching himself out of the fight.

EDIT: The TKO was a big surprise though, I thought if anything Sexton would of won on points.

Sexton was rocked in the sixth, and in the eighth he looked "gone", as they say in Britain, but the ref interrupted Rogan's offensive to caution him for hitting on the back of the head, and then a recovering Sexton spat out his mouthpiece and made a nodding gesture to the canvas, whereupon Rogan amateurishly dropped his hands, stepped back and turned to look at the referee. While Rogan was doing this, Sexton had the presence of mind to hit Rogan with a few pushing-type punches, and then the referee called for a time out and had Sexton's mouthpiece rinsed and replaced, Rogan's chance had now gone, and within moments the referee was calling in the doctor, and the fight was stopped due to Rogan's badly swollen eye.

If it hadn't been for the closed eye, I had the sense that Rogan would likely have clubbed Sexton to defeat in about 10 rounds -- I think he would have outlasted him -- but this is boxing, the fact is that Rogan's eye WAS badly swollen, and things like eye injuries are part of the business. (Without the warning and then the mouthpiece-rule time out, maybe Rogan could have got the job done in the eighth, because for a moment there Sexton looked out on his feet, but we will never know.)

What do you guys think about Ward-Miranda? I'm thinking a straddle...equal amounts on Ward by decision and Miranda by knockout. This would produce a small profit if Ward gets a decision, and a larger profit if Miranda knocks him out.

If Ward is careful of Miranda's power, he will coast to a decision. If he isn't careful, he's setting himself up to be K.O'd by Miranda. That's my reasoning anyways.

and I just can't see Miranda winning a decision.

The question is, is Miranda resilient enough to get out boxed for 10 rounds without being stopped? I'm hoping he is, given that he's only been stopped by big bombers in Pavlik and Abraham.

But unless this contest is being reffed by Steve Smoger, a Ward TKO win is obviously a big risk to the play I described.

Thoughts?

Yes, I would. That was also the immediate reaction of the Sky TV crew: "Let's see it again-- please!" I am not sure Sexton wants to know, though. He talked of moving on to "bigger and better things" as he put it. I think Sam knew he had a narrow escape. Re wintergreen's post, the Ward-Miranda fight is scheduled for 12 rounds, not 10.

Well I think you are right about Sexton not being interested in a rematch. But I hope you are wrong about Sexton because I would like to see a rematch too! :)

I understand your thinking, but I actually think Ward can stop Miranda. And so do the oddsmakers, who have set Ward ITD at even money.
Miranda could check that chin as well.

I think FIGHT WONT GO DISTANCE is a better play, but this is just one man's opinion

and for reference, I was on fire in April, cold as ice the last 3 weeks....so take my advice with a grain of salt

Congrats on your wins Lord and no offense but it would be nice if you posted your plays before the results come out. You hit some big dogs in the last month 40-1, 20-1, and some good ones today but to my knowledge you haven't recommended or posted a single play b4 the actual fight (I could be wrong). All of us here post after the fact on occasion but for the most part we're posting our plays before the fact. It's beginning to look like you never lose and everybody knows there are no such players.

Hi Romy, fot sure there is no such player!

This weekend had been my weekend due to I like to bet some money on very high quotes as long as it is a "value" bet / Underdogs ingerneral and "crasy" parlays.

But if you just look at my post last weekend and the weekend before. I bet on (and wrote it down) Hatton,MCDermot, Garcia... and lost all the lines :(

hmmm I do not why you do not grant me some nice wins after 2 shitty weekends but ... I do not like such kind of people.

You maybe check next time befor you attack... :nono:

Anyway I really hope that maybe Ali,Diaz,Miranda(I would love to see him win by dec.) can win their figth as I have some money on them but by far more important I have them in parlays with Botha + Sexton that would be a very nice kicker for my returns

Miranda, being the wild man that he is, may just let himself get put to sleep. Ward is a careful type of guy, but, if Miranda pushes the action, Ward may have to let his hands go. Miranda has the proverbial"punchers chance", but for me Ward is the smarter play. I just may parlay Ward/Angulo to lower my odds a bit.

I was pretty diplomatic about it so no apolgies on my side. Somebody well respected in here took a lot of heat for doing that to a MUCH MUCH lesser degree. It doesn't amt to a heap of sht if you come in here and continually post your heavy dog plays after the factI congratulated you on your wins but for future reference I suggest you post your plays before the results are given. It's simply common sense gambling forum etiquette. Peace, and good luck on the rest of the wkend.
