Smith is an impressive kid. He's a real fighter in tremendous shape and he works. He had a nasty ass cut and simply ignored it and fought well. The 100-88 was ridiculous. I would have said 98-92 or 97-93. Nice effort from the 22 year old. He's a baby and he's handling rugged contender types. Good for him. Did you notice also that he is all business. He doesn't play to the cameras. He just wants to get it on. That cut will need a while to heal so we probably won't see him again until the fall sometime. Very impressed with the poise of that young man.

Incredible poise. No panic. All business. He fought a great fight. His speed and timing were solid as well. I'm a new fan.

gonzales -260 in mexico?.....what is this guy the second coming of fighting harada?...

Gonzalez is pretty vulnerable IMO because he don't really take a good shot. I imagine that is why the odds are like they are. Nishioka is a pretty solid fighter as well.

"the bunker"
that body shot he took from the phillipino really hurt folks perception of gonzales...

still think that those that grabbed -210 in mehico have an excellent chance at cashing....

in japan,not so much........

i watched some footage of nishioka and scored a ko by bodyshot a la penalosa

he's pretty damn fast

if jhonny is not carefully, he could get penalosa'd again

There is quite a bit of video on youtube of Nish and I'm not overly impressed. I think Jhonny rolls here. Nish has traveled along way to give up his belt and that's what I expect to happen.

Right! I'm a fan, too. Can't wait to see this kid again. The cut may keep this very active kid on the shelf for a bit but if he fights twice more in 2009 I wouldn't be surprised.

the McCall fight has not started yet
the internet broadcast is having some sort of 20 minute intermission
it's really a ghetto production
I paid 10 bucks, but Ollie will make it up for me

Good work by Evan (picking Smith), at first glance I thought the fight was wide open, but Smith had quite a lot going for him!

BTW, I just got up, I thought we would have the result by now!

I'm on McCall with a hedge on over 6.5 rounds, I dont see a hopoata ko, but he may be able to outwork MCall, I figure at least one of my bets will hit!

Yes he was there and frank garza was there.
I shook hands with Juan Lazcano. The boxer who fought Hatton last year. It was fun.

Rugby stiff walking to the ring

Now McCall enters to cheers
walking to the ring with an insane look on his fight
he runs into the ring
he looks good
