NHL roundup: Grabner's hat trick highlights Rangers' win

NEW YORK -- Henrik Lundqvist overcame allowing an early goal to make 32 saves and Michael Grabner had a hat trick as the New York Rangers beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
Two of Grabner's three goals were scored into an empty net in the final minutes. David Desharnais and Paul Carey also scored to give the Rangers their fifth win in six games.
The Hurricanes have lost four of five. Justin Williams scored the team's lone goal and Scott Darling stopped 21 of 24 shots to take the loss.
Grabner, who scored his first goal in the second period, iced the game with his 12th and 13th goals of the season, both into empty nets. He escaped along the right wing in the neutral zone, took a pass from defenseman Ryan McDonagh and scored into an empty net with 2:13 remaining, then collected a bouncing puck and chipped into the net with 1:12 remaining.
Jets 7, Golden Knights 4
WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Winnipeg right winger Patrik Laine had a goal and two assists, Kyle Connor chipped in with a pair of goals and Jets also got singles from Nikolaj Ehlers, Matt Hendricks, Tyler Myers, Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor in the win over the visiting Golden Knights.
Vegas replied with singles from William Karlsson, Cody Eakin and Erik Haula.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 shots in the Jets net for his 14th win of the season while Maxime Lagace stopped 31 at the other end of the ice for the Golden Knights.
Sharks 2, Panthers 1
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Chris Tierney scored a tiebreaking goal with 12:45 left in the third period as San Jose defeated Florida.
Tierney scored on a sharp-angle rebound off his backhand for his seventh goal of the season.
The game's other goals were scored by Florida's Derek MacKenzie and San Jose's Joe Pavelski.
Backup Sharks goalie Aaron Dell made 38 saves for his second straight win this week. He is 15-9-2 in his two years in the NHL, and this was the 17th time this season the Sharks allowed two goals or less.
The Sharks are 4-0-1 in their past five games, four of which were on the road. Overall this season, the Sharks are 7-2-1 on the road.
Kings 4, Blues 1
ST. LOUIS -- Tyler Toffoli scored a pair of goals to lead Los Angeles to its fourth consecutive win.
Toffoli put the Kings in front just 1:43 into the game when he skated past defenseman Vince Dunn and beat goalie Carter Hutton. He added a second goal, his 13th of the season, midway through the third period after a steal by Tanner Pearson.
Anze Kopitar followed Toffoli's first goal with a goal off a rebound of a shot by Alex Iafallo at 6:02 of the first period, his 13th of the season. The two goals came on the Kings' first five shots.
Senators 6, Islanders 5
NEW YORK -- Ryan Dzingel's second goal of the game snapped a tie and lifted Ottawa to a wild win over New York.
Dzingel, who opened the scoring in the first period, scored 1:38 into the third to cap a back-and-forth affair that featured four ties and two lead changes.
Zack Smith, Bobby Ryan, Thomas Chabot and Mike Hoffman also scored for the Senators, who snapped a six-game losing streak -- their longest since an 0-6-1 skid during the 2011-12 season.
Goalie Mike Condon stopped all 19 shots he faced in relief of Craig Anderson, who allowed five goals on 18 shots.
Blue Jackets 4, Ducks 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Josh Anderson scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period and Columbus held on for a win over Anaheim.
In addition to his 10th goal of the season with 4:54 left in the third, Anderson also had two assists to help the Blue Jackets to their eighth win in the past nine games. Anderson extended his points streak to a career-high five games.
Artemi Panarin scored his sixth goal of the season, Brandon Dubinsky delivered a first-period goal and an assist, and Nick Foligno added an empty-netter with 28.8 seconds left.
Panarin and Pierre-Luc Dubois each had two assists for the Blue Jackets.
Penguins 4, Sabres 0
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist and Tristan Jarry made 34 saves to lead Pittsburgh to a win over the Buffalo.
Tom Kuhnhackl, Jake Guentzel and Patric Hornqvist also scored for Pittsburgh. It was the first career shutout for Jarry, who is replacing injured starter Matthew Murray in net.
Robin Lehner made 21 saves for the Sabres. who have been shut out in three consecutive games. Buffalo has lost 10 of its past 11 games.
