NHL Notebook: Stars reassign McKenzie to AHL

The Dallas Stars reassigned left winger Curtis McKenzie to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League on Saturday.
McKenzie, 26, has 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 12 games for Texas this season. His six goals are tied for the team lead and he is second in points. In his last game for Texas on Nov. 8 at San Diego, he recorded his second career AHL hat trick and had a career-best five points.
In parts of three seasons with Dallas, McKenzie owns 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and 120 penalty minutes in 92 regular-season games. Last season, he set career bests with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) and 72 penalty minutes in 53 games.
The native of Golden, British Columbia, was originally selected by Dallas in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL draft.
--The Washington Capitals reassigned forward Liam O'Brien to the Hershey Bears of the AHL.
O'Brien, 23, has played in three games for the Capitals this season, making his season debut on Nov. 4 at Boston. O'Brien owns one goal, one assist and 28 penalty minutes in 17 career games with the Capitals.
In nine games with Hershey this season, O'Brien has two goals and four penalty minutes. Last season, he recorded 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 64 games. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native has 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists) in 177 career AHL games.
O'Brien signed with Washington as a free agent on Oct. 6, 2014.
--The Nashville Predators assigned forwards Frederick Gaudreau and Pontus Aberg to the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
Gaudreau has played in 10 games with Nashville this season, tallying two assists and two penalty minutes. He scored a goal and added three assists in three games with the Admirals to start 2017-18.
Aberg is being sent to the AHL on a conditioning assignment. He has two assists in nine games with the Predators. In 199 career games with the Admirals, Aberg owns 126 points (72 goals, 54 assists)
