Someone explain the recruitment of Noel Devine.

Wood doesn't know what the fawk he is talking about. A bunch of schools thought he wouldn't qualify...Rod stayed with him and he liked the offense. He qualified and he signed with WVU.

Wood reads something on the michigan rivals board and takes it as gospel.

Terrell Pryor is not going to Michigan. :mj07: :mj07:

9.5 out of ten.

Don't be surprised if Terrell Pryor comes with RichRod. In that case, Mallett will transfer.

i wonder if rr does get the michigan job he will try to install the same type of offense that he runs at wv or will he go to a more pro style of offense...

i would suspect that the people who are interviewing him asked him this question..

Thats why this is so hard to believe and is such a shock.....certainly not impugning CWood's source......but everytime I think of this, thats exactly what i think about......certainly, though, UM has the talent to run any system.....but the QB position is what limits them to adapt to this or any other spread-esque sort of offense.

I close my eyes, picture the UM i've been watching the last few years and just chuckle at them trying to run WVA's system.

It would be interesting, to say the least, to see how this transpires over the weekend and also how RR puts in his system. It would be a major story line of the 2008 season.

a good coach adapts to the players he has..the stubborn coaches try to force a system on the players who can't play it....i think rr is in the former category..

RR ran a pass first spread with Shaun King at Tulane. I imagine would do the same with Mallett if he is not able to bring in a mobile guy.

I had forgotten about that!! Thanks for reminding me....I feel much better now.....although tyrelle pryor would be pretty sweet!!!

Still in shock as this came out of the blue.....does this constitute a home run hire.....wonder if this will get people excited and 1/2 the fan base off the Les or Bust bandwagon.

Any insights into possible assistants......anybody sticking around.....any thoughts on who he might be bringing?

Agree it could be a rocky transition, but UM will still have more talent that just about everyone else they play next year, so that might help him overcome that fact. Cant see us putting up a worse record than this year....can you?

Got nothing on assistants at this point. I'd imagine you are looking at a total overhaul on the offensive side of the ball and the potential for most of the defensive staff to be back. All speculation.

Rodriguez has a presser scheduled,
looks like he is your man

This presser was actually already scheduled previously (bowl practice related). RR did not tell his players anything last night at practice so I would be surprised if he commented on UM today.

he is not going to Michigan.

He will end up at LSU after miles signs with Michigan.

Michigan is not going to pay 4 million for his buyout.

You are right, UM does not pay buyouts. But UM alum and Billionaire Stephen Ross does. He paid Beilein's. Dude has 4 million rolling around on the floor of his car.

Heard on the radio this morning driving back from the gym that the 4 mil buyout in RR's contract is a bit deceiving in that it has to do with WV upgrading facilities and none of those have been done, so the buyout would be WAY less than the 4 mil being talked about.
This was some guy on Fox Sports Radio at about 9:15 AM central time, so take it for what that is worth...

CWood,
Are you still of the belief that this is as good as done? I'm surprised by how many people feel this is all a smokescreen.

Actually what surprised me most is people who have been saying for a year or two we need a change of philosophy, but are up in arms about bring in RR because, in their words, he cant run his system here. Of course, many of those same people or part of the Les or Bust crowd. Anyway, just a rant here on my part....i find our fan base to a bit schzophrenic these days when it comes to the coaching search and a perusal of various message boards this morning reveals it again.

Anyway, original question.....does this still look like a done deal and any sense of timeline for an announcement?
