The specualtion is getting old.
Nobody believes Miles. Given his own history at Okie State and many many other coaches in this same spot, statements from him will not be taken at face value.
Why is Michigan so quiet on this matter? Meaning, if he was not their guy and are moving on, they sort of "owe" it to an alum to make a public announcement saying something to that effect and that they're moving on. That way Miles would be free of this situation. And concentrate on winning the BCS title game.
As it stands, Miles can deny all he wants, but the media will not believe him and continue to pester him until it finanlly resolved. I know I dont believe him, but I dont believe any coach in these situations. Shoot, on Nov. 26 Petrino said he wasn't interested in any other job.
Maybe Michigan will publicly cast a wide net for their Plan B candidates, as CWood labelled them, and maybe thats the subterfuge they're running to keep heat off Miles while at least doing due diligence on a host of others in the event LSU draws a line in the sand that Miles decides he cant cross or all the "non truth" telling gets to him and refuses to do it any more and tells UM no.
Lets say Miles is leaving. Why is it so bad to just announce it and let the BCS game be his last one. I know, I know, there's recruiting and stuff.....but the dead period for that is basically upon us. And, is Miles really that key to recruiting for LSU.....at this point, cant LSU, as a school, just say to recruits, hey we've played for a 2 national titles and won three league titles in 7 seasons under two different coaches. Come play for us and whomever the coach is you will be playing for glory.
I just dont think LSU is that bad of a position even if Miles said today that he is leaving.
