TP, this is definitely not a smokescreen. Not at all.

Many are up in arms and can't understand it because it is such a departure from what was originally decided by Martin and the committee on RR.

It appears to be on the way to a deal, but these things sometimes go sideways in the end. IMO if this stretches out any longer than the next 72 hours or so then the % chance goes way down for UM getting him. That said, I am told as long as the few remaining details are worked out like they should be this will be done very shortly.

a good coach adapts to the players he has..the stubborn coaches try to force a system on the players who can't play it....i think rr is in the former category..

I agree. He ran a totally different offense at Tulane with Sean King.
He's a good HC, and I would love for Miles to leave for Mich and RR to step in at LSU.

I guy can dream, can't he:weed:

You're cracking me up my man. Are you trying to confuse me!?!?! I really dont know what to make of that comment unless you were talking about a hypothetical situation had Miles left for UM.

I'm saying if this deal goes sideways there is still a decent chance Miles ends up at UM and RR would be a prime candidate for LSU with Petrino off the table.

Well, we have already seen some deals go sideways, so it probably wouldn't surprise to many to see this one get derailed.....it sounds like RR is burning some bridges down WVA way with this UM flirtation, so now you've put it that way, i can see that happening if the dominoes fall that particular way.

Any sense from the WVA posters on this board if RR is on his way out.....do you agree w/ my assessment that the fan rhetoric sounds way more anti-RR right now than it did last year when he gave alabama a look?

WVU fans want him to leave. He did a great job at WVU ...however, these annual flirtations have rubbed people the wrong way. Last year, it was Alabama and WVU emptied their pockets and started numerous renovations to the facilities with the agreement he would be in it for the long haul.. Now, this happened.

People are sick of it and want him to just go on his way.

WVU will get a good coach and be just fine.

Whatever, school gets Rich will get a well coached team. However, Rich has proven to be a very big choker in big games. His playcalling becomes too conservative when the chips are on the table.

Let me clarify one thing....I don't think he will go to Michigan (Rich is really the only person who really knows at this point)...however, he will be going somewhere soon. WV fans will not forgive and forget on this escapade. He has burned this bridge.

Considering UM has not been a well coached team for several seasons now, I like the upgrade in RR. I will say that his big game can improve. He's a young coach, going at it as a HC for the first time.....you do learn when you take lumps.....he's won two league titles in last three years and did upset UGA in the Sugar Bow....so, he's got potential....that said, how he handled that Pitt game remains the biggest head scratcher of the year.

What you said in your next post is what I was getting at. I think folks down there were fine last year. He was a hot coach w/ a hot system and Alabama is big time. Sure, Michigan is big time as well, but the concessions given to him last year by his alma mater and he repays them w/ secret flirtations in Toledo......I got the sense the bridges were at least smoldering.....he might be waffling on UM, but find the door home to WVA locked, so he might as well leave.

I'm still stunned by this just because I'm a little excited to see some form of the spread in Ann Arbor. Should be interesing to say the least.

I'm sure you'll find another used up retread like Huggy bear to replace him right about the time Beilein gets UM hoops rolling.

Seriously, how can West Virginia fans possibly be "done" with a coach like Rich Rodriguez? Did anyone believe for a second he would be there longer than a couple or three more years? Coaches that good don't stay at places like West Virginia. They just don't. You guys should all be begging and pleading to keep a guy like that for as long as you possibly can. Perhaps if he stays there long enough your program will be something other than a flash in the pan.

All those national championship banners in ann arbor can be seen for miles?

BTW- Rich is staying in Morgantown..(just heard it from Motown.)

Move along and go try to persuade some other sucker. Lets see, Miles-no.....Edsall-no.....Rod-no.....Miles again-no........embarrassing?

One more thing...Rodriguez is a WVU grad. You wanted a WVU grad to coach your team? Oh, the humility.

Wait, I thought you guys were done with him? How could he be staying? :mj07: :mj07:

Please back up a second...I believe I was quoted as saying...he won't go to your shit school.

I didn't say I was pleased. I didn't say I was happy.

Wood, you have to come to reality. Michigan isn't a step up anymore. You see, Bo Schembechler is dead, much like your program. :mj07:
