Who is 'they' ?? I have a problem with it. She's set herself up as the spokeswoman against socialism while participating is the biggest example of it in the U.S. And the money originally comes from the private sector and is distributed via the government to Alaskan citizens that apply for it regardless of 'production'

There is zero difference. Wish someone was allowed to question her. Just ask her one or two simple questions like this. But that will never happen.

the alaskan situation was originally enacted in response to irresponsible state government spending ...the idea was to put some of the oil revenue beyond the reach of bureaucratic irresponsibility....

taking a portion of a resource that accounts for 85% of a state`s revenue out of the hand`s of irresponsible politician`s imprudent handling was a smart move in an unusual situation...alaska isn`t delaware...

if only we could check the dems/ obama administration`s increasing stranglehold on the utilization of our own national resources...

wind and solar!......lol...

you think socialism works?...

Obviously, it doesn't. You've got a millionaire governor collecting and cashing checks that could be used for the state's other needs......like building the 'bridge to nowhere' from monies they originally requested from the federal government.

I'm just pointing out her hypocritical nature.

"The Alaska Permanent Fund was established in 1977, in response to what most Alaskans felt was an irresponsible state government. In 1969, a massive oil field was discovered in the state-owned Prudhoe Bay area. The ensuing oil lease sale in September of that year earned the state $900 million in one day (Brown 41). To the horror of the public, the money was almost entirely gone within three years (Lewis 32), having been (according to popular perception) "frittered away" by the legislature (Anderson 58). To put this in perspective, the state's annual budget at the time was only slightly over $100 million (Anderson 58). The Permanent Fund was instituted partially as a measure to prevent the potential similar waste of future oil revenues. After the Prudhoe Bay incident, Alaskans had a great deal of distrust in their government's money-management ability, and were anxious to "[place] a portion of the state's oil revenues beyond the reach of day-to-day government spending" (Olson 605). ".....

socialism?....more like a trust fund.....intended to keep greedy pols hands out of the cookie jar....wish something similar had been enacted on the federal level before the social security trust fund was decimated...

and btw...about that bridge....guess which prominent democratic politicians voted for that boondoggle...even after having a second chance...

Doesn't matter if it's effective or not, it's socialism. Two ways of looking at this Weasle: the governor is taking part in a very effective form of socialism, or the governor is taking part in an ineffective form of socialism. You pick. Regardless of it's purpose, it's absolute socialism in the purest sense.

All I'm saying is the governor has been the mouthpiece against all socialism because it fits her current agenda (slamming this administration). She doesn't seem to mind collecting those checks when it benefits her. She's simply a hypocrite. A hypocrite that nobody is allowed to ask any questions of.

She Is going to start getting ready for her new life in porn.

Actually this would be a step up for her.

But maybe with her new sense of BIG government she is NOW ready to take on Obama and the rest of the dead beat politicians, she may just be heading up the Alaskan Independence Party for a real shot at taking over. This little sly slick bitch cant be trusted, she'll do anything to kill a moose AND gain more political power. If the republicans wont back her, well DAMN IT the AIP will!!!!!!!!!

BTW.....Rupert Murdoch is paying Palin $11M for a book. The same Rupert Murdoch that overpaid Newt Gingrich for a book deal and got his ass thrown out of politics. But not before Newt pushed through The Telecommunications Act of 1996 that allowed Murdoch to purchase Fox. :0corn

So, who owns Sarah Palin now? And what kind of message does this send other GOP members?

it`s only socialism in the small minds of some left wing blogs/bloggers,auspice....

you guys have always been of the belief that if you repeat something long enough ,it`s the truth...as always, you`re way off base...

it`s a trust fund for a people who`s economy is(unfortunately) dependent on a single resource...much like iraq... a critical resource that this myopic administration is trying to erase from the american landscape as china, russia and india laugh their asses off...a sort of"savings account" ... designed to convert a part of the depleting petroleum asset into a permanent and sustainable financial asset......

it`s a trust fund much like the unemployment, highway and airport and tribal trust funds for native americans....

as of 2008,not one cent of the principal of the original fund has been spent.....it`s worth somewhere around $$35,235.7 million ....

as you yourself said...socialism doesn`t work..this appears to be working(as long as this administration doesn`t destroy the alskan economy and the oil reserve holds up)....

btw...joe biden said that palin"is not a victim"... ..lol

Well said auspice3. Weezil's declarations of socialism are very selective and always convenient. ;)

I knew the truth would come out eventually, she is being sued and has spent 500K of her own money to defend herself against frivilous lawsuits. Obama does not want any competition. I guarantee you Obama backers are behind running her out of office.

I think she's spent over $500K of the state's monies. If you've got a link saying otherwise I'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks.
