here is another one I heard on the radio today.

In Georgia we have a new immigration bill passing on July 1 that will fine companys that employ illegal aliens.

So the topic was the schools in Gwinnett Cty and that they were going to lose alot of school children as the illigal parants take them out of school to move to another friendly state.

Then the guy says that the school is not allowed by the Fed Gov to check on the legal status of any school children

how did we get like this ?

I remember when I signed up for Kinder I had to show my birth cert and passport for christs sake.

and now the school districts are worried they are going to lose Fed Support because they dont have enough kids to teach per pupil.

wtf

this country has so many unsolvable problems

its really really hard to believe most of the time.

Scott,

You are not being realistic. When I finally have resorted to names, it is always after being subjected to numerous derogatory comments and name calling. And I know the purpose of it - to deflect the real issue and to try to upset me. While I don't care for it, it doesn't upset me. It just shows the intelligence of the poster.

And it never gets better - a post can start out about the issues, but then if a liberal poster doesn't like my, Pro's, or DTB's position, then they start with the name calling.

Not unlike the Dems who call every Republican racist if they disagree with Obama's policiies.

I'd be happy to let by gones be by gones, but I have a hunch that some posters enjoyment in posting is tied directly to name calling of those who have positions that they don't agree with.
.........................................................................

when things are said that are so outlandish or not logical we pretty much just throw up our hands.

If there was any give and take about politics or religion it has passed us by.

It comes down to you stating your opinion and never and I mean never capitulating
to reason no matter what fact is said or posted.

Here is a experiment just for you .

I have named two Repub that I respect and would consider voting for . Christy and Ron Paul.

Please name two Democrats. Any democrat that you can say the same thing about ?

I wait with baited breath and hope not to have to call names.

Get it right TU that would be Tim Thomas jerseys and Bruins pucks.Where you been under a rock(mask). The sports radio shows are still talking and playing sound bites of Bruins hockey!!Over a million showed up on Saturday!!The city is full of energy, unemployment is below the national average so much unemployment extentions didn't qualify w/the gov't..Things are looking up in Beantown!!

By the way, once I stop paying for the National Grids CEO's daughters education than I will be able to afford my electric bill.:0008

State to suspend Ga. 400 toll; future I-85 toll can soar

Drivers on Ga. 400 will see the toll end Friday. Briefly. Then it will start anew July 1.

The respite on Ga. 400 will allow construction workers to make changes to the Cruise Card system over the weekend.

It will also allow the state to say it kept a promise, made 20 years ago when that stretch of Ga. 400 was first built, to terminate the toll once the road's construction was paid off this summer.
.......................................................................

Here is just another outrageous example of gov just fawking us over.

20 years ago they promised that the toll road would be stopped this year. But guess what. The toll road rakes in millions per year. And they do not use it for the intended use they use it for other state projects.

Who is stupid enough to say ..... oh well they suspended it for a week and that counts.

They take us for complete assholes that cannot do anything about it.

So now they have another toll road coming up on
I85 north

They are going to be able to increase the cost of the toll depending on how busy the highway is.

I have to say again and again

wtf

Mad City, WI
WI has been so far out of the norm in term of Public benefits - which is why the unions are fighting so hard to keep them.....and why there is such a revolt among the working class here. People that were not union government employees had no idea how good the teachers, et al had in terms of benefits.

One of the best things that this whole discussion in WI has brought out was the public awareness of the benefit packages public employees were getting. Working people are appalled. The transparency that has been brought about by the political issues has been good for the taxpayer, who previously had no idea of how generous the public sector benefits had been.....
Keep spinning your little fairy tales, Mags. The entire nation watched "the revolt of the working people" here in Wisconsn at the State Capitol in Feb. and March. Who do you think you're kidding? The only revolt in Wisconsin was and IS against the heavy-handed tactics of Gov. Gumby and his corporate masters.

The revolt the entire nation witnessed was the revolt of 300,000 public sector workers and rest of the middle-class in Wisconsin who witnessed the hostile takeover of their state by the Koch Bros. and their political errand boy.

For months, you've been in here telling us what a self-made big shot you are while you whine about middle-class teachers with an average salary of $47K. You've made it quite clear you feel better now knowing that in August, those middle-class teachers will begin taking home less of their $47K salary so the corporate masters of Gov. Gumby can enjoy bigger tax breaks and higher profits. And you've got balls to lecture us about civility?

In our school district, that is the plan the teachers are given - oh, yea, they are paying $0 premium for this plan. Yep, that's right - a no cost sharing plan that they were paying $0 for.

However, you must realize that WI has huge problems with these type of plans in the public sector. Going forward (thank you Scott Walker), the teachers will be paying 12.6% of the health care costs - which is still a much better deal than teachers in other states get.

That is excessive but why could they not wait and cut a new deal when this one expired?

Dick Durben - IL Senator (very liberal, but very impressive man who gets his points across without being a Dick)

Nathan Deal - Governor, GA.

That was easy.

See Trench, I don't think it is a bad thing to bring public benefits in line with the private sector, especially when it is the critical piece to having a balanced budget in WI for the first time in like 8 years. It is definitely a good thing - and clearly the public unions have not shared in the sacrifice that many of us had the past few years.

$47K is a very good salary, combined with the benefits, and only working 9 months a year. It is akin to a $63K salary for someone who works the whole year, and better benefits than the private industry. Not much to complain about for teachers.

Go ahead and compare public teachers with private school ones to compare salaries and benefits to get a better idea of what the real world says teachers should be paid. Go ahead.

More name calling. Surprised. Not. Duff, you must be a very unhappy person to keep calling people names to make yourself feel better. That's ok though - I see you type of people all the time. It's too bad. I hope your life gets better for you.

I understand what you are saying, but.... it is the "rich"s money - they earned it. Somehow stealing it from them just because they are successful doesn't make sense. Why penalize those who work hard, got an education, and are successful to help those who don't work hard, chose not to get an education?

Seems like we should incent and reward success, not the other way around.

More importantly, EVERYONE should pay FIT - even at the 10% level. Take all deductions away (mortgage interest, child credit, earned income credit, etc) and you'll get more from the top end AND the lower end....

problem solved!

I understand what you are saying and it isn't fair but if you don't take more from the rich (who are not going to miss it as easily) then the country falls further behind. You have to then take it from the people that are going to be crushed by it. It is easy to say that people should be more educated and reward success but this country does not allow for that. I think we have to face the fact that there are more people than jobs or decent jobs. Not everyone is smart enough for college or have sadly been raised in violence or have not been educated from birth. What do we do? Do we make people take IQ tests? Do we just euthanize all those who do not score high? Do we just start euthanizing the poor? We are where we are and with the population we have there will always be a poor unless we weeded out the uneducated, severely handicapped, elderly, and etc... I know this is going on a rant but you see what I mean.

So now we are in the situation we are in... SO what do we do? If you want to get out of this mess taxing the rich seems to me the best way as unfair as it maybe. And it is not always unfair if you consider how easy it is for the rich to manipulate the poor. IE... Gas, Oil, Electricity, Food, Tobacco. I know tobacco is a stretch but it is an addictive item that affects us all.

Just curious, Scott, but why didn't we take the profit out of healthcare? Obama went after the smallest piece of the pie - why didn't he take the profits away from the Docs, Hospitals, and Pharma, where like 80+% of the costs are?

And, if we are going to take the profit out of everything that costs folks a lot of money, we certainly should have started with food and gas. Why not mandate those industries must be non profit?

And people pay too much taxes today - so let's take the profit (unions) out of government - who make better wages and benefits than the private sector, who pay their salaries.

At this rate, we will be a communist country - which is what many of the folks on this board are secretly hoping for I'm sure....

I could come up with BP Care but it would put this country in an uproar but it would be effective..

You want affordable health care... OK here we go.

If you are not overweight, have good cholesterol checks, fit a certain age group, do not test positive for nicotine, physical turns out A+ then you pay very little health insurance.

Then you adjust it down the line so that the overweight, obese, nicotine users, alcohol users, and so forth pay the most. Oh you were born fat and it is in your genes? Well too fucking bad you are paying a shit load for health care. You better get on that treadmill and burn that fat, fatty. You want to smoke 3 packs of heaters per day, then you better pay the most insurance, I think you get my drift. As long as there are McDonalds, Liquor stores, and Cig shops every block then health care is always going to be out of control. We blame the government and other entities but we never look in the mirror as a country when it comes to our own glutany.

The healthy people are paying more for their share than the unhealthy people and it is not fair. You obese prick driving a 40,000 vehicle... Not no more. You better be paying 12,000 per year just for yourself for health coverage cause you are going to be costing this country a shit load by the time you are 50.

The point I am trying to make... Is that many things in life are not fair. Taking a little off the top from the rich to help this country out seems to be the easiest solution. At least it makes the most sense.. To me anyway..

BP - I don't disagree with raising the taxes on the rich. I really don't.

But I do disagree with calling families that make $250K "rich". Doing ok, yes, but not rich like a Gates or a LeBron or Buffett.

Add more tax brackets - add one at $500K, one at $1M and then up and up....

But to lump a family making $250K and one making $250M in the same tax bracket above $250K is ridiculous.

But you know that neither party wants to hurt their big money supporters, so this won't happen.

Yep, I think 250 could pay a slight percentage more than 100 though. I consider 250 rich if consistently made yearly, that is better than doing OK but not Gates, lebron, or Buffet

On this issue, I agree 100%. The cost of insurance should mirror the risk you have of claims.

Which is why I was astounded by 2 pieces in Obamacare - charging the same for each gender (women cost much more than men before age 50, then men cost more), and not allowing the cost of insurance by age to accurately reflect the costs (Obamacare put a maximum of a 3-1 differential, which means young people, who typically make a smaller income, will be vastly overpaying for their insurance based on the claims they will have, and older people will vastly underpay for their insurance, even though they typically have higher incomes as they get further on the career curve).

So much of Obamacare is non-sensical. Which is why it still needs to be repealed and replaced (even after all this time, there still is 55% that would repeal it).

Oh yes, Obamacare won't allow you to charge people more for being overweight, lazy, or drinking tons of alcohol. The only thing you can charge more for is smoking.

Guess which will lead to more healthcare costs by the age of 65: obesity or smoking? You got it - obesity by a long shot. Wait until 75% of our kids, once they hit age 30, are diabetics due to their diet and how fat they are.

How many skinny kids do you see today? Remember when we grew up - almost every kid was stick thin, with the exeception of a few fatties. Today, the stick thin kid is the freak, and everyone is a fatty....

The bracket at $250K today is much higher than at $100K today (talking family income here of course)

That is the only thing I will agree with you on. A 250K couple is not rich. Don't get me wrong they should be paying more taxes than they do. But in reality they are not rich is most cases.

Plus another factor that really should be considered is where the money is made. 250K in the midwest is rich. 250K in NewYorkCity is not.
