GW...all good:toast:

As I have said GSP should have finished him. Shields was terrible and even though GSP had one eye for the majority of the fight he still should have finished Shields.

Shields didn't win one minute of the fight let alone a round. Shields did fuck all and was a complete disgrace.

The main even sucked and both fighters are to blame. GSP is the best fighter on the planet and hasn't been close to losing in years. Deal with that.

GSP was the one with one eye, but it was Shields that was happy with making it 5 full rounds. Shields was a complete joke. GSP had one eye and was upset it went 5 rounds.....Shields was not. That tells ya all ya need to know.

GSP clearly the best ever, but he needs to finish shit fighters like Shields. Shields fucking blows, he was god awful.

By the way whatisnuts ya never answered my question how GSP is boring yet Machida never had a boring fight. The GSP/Shields fight wasn't boring, it just sucked.

Up until the eye situation the fight was a decent fight. Shields was totally getting toyed with. Staggered a few times. Took a few back kicks to the gut and was toss down to the ground a few times as well as taken a huge kick to the head. If the eye situation doesn't occur i think he would have been finished. The one thing i really find funny here is that all the sudden GSP is this master boxer. GSP never had great hands. Yeah he used them against Koschek. Koschek a wild thrower. Against Hardy he kept them in his pocket. GSP has average hands and last night they looked worst then in the KOschek fight. And Shields standup isn't that bad he just has no power at all.
As for the eye situation at 136 of the third round GSP went to rub his eye. The angle of the two punches Shields threw was not the same punches that the UFC brass showed in between rounds. I can't get it on slowmo so it is impossible to see unless i find another feed. The on demand feed i have is shittier then the live feed from last night. Shields thru a ton of open hand punches in that fight. Might have to wait till it comes on Spike in a year from now unless the UFC thinks it isn't worth viewing :142smilie One thing i love about MMA fans is that a guy can beat the shit out of another guy for 4 rounds and everyone will forget that if the guy who was losing has a big fifth round. I think it is called mma amnesia. KIck GSP the best fighter lol. I got to jump off that train.

Shields looked like complete garbage. His takedowns were pathetic he had complete hold of his leg and GSP just simply removed it. He tried to clinch a handful of times and just got thrown off. He was truly demoralized in that regard and midway through the fight just accepted that it was going to stay standing.

It tells you a lot about what he thought of his own chances going in, because he was quite pleased with just not getting hurt or humiliated even though the most fortunate things happened for him in the fight.

But I would still call that a "moral" victory for Shields.

GSP clearly the best ever, but he needs to finish shit fighters like Shields. Shields fucking blows, he was god awful.

I can't say that GSP is even close to the best ever after that. I said before if he lost it would set MMA back years, and I beleive his shit performance stalled it's progress.

We all agree that Shields was just a stooge that GSP was supposed to dominate.

Believe me, I had quite a bit tied up in the same parlays as everyone else, and deep down I'm glad GSP was so cautious, but thats because I'm a pussy who lacks the heart of a champion.

This was supposed to be legendary for the UFC and the night went like this

flying armbar
perfect spinning backfist ko
vicious ellengerger ko
rory/diaz war
bocek war
janitor crazy ko
legendary mr miyagi ko
aldo/hominick war
GSP drops a steaming turd and is booed by own fans

That GSP fight was the "money shot", you can't fuck up the money shot, that why they call it that.

Shields was such a can, the fight was merely supposed to be a ceremony. A showcase of GSP's skills and a showcase of MMA as a whole, and he fucked it up. Unforgivable.

Machida is and has been way more exciting than GSP. I have always found his style fascinating. He didn't knock out his first couple opponents, so he will always be boring. Whatever. The guy is interesting and always has been. GSP hasn't been interesting in years.

I love how Shields gets blamed for a boring fight, but GSP never does. If Anderson Silva does this 1 time, he's belittled from top to bottom. Yet, GSP continuously goes out and just puts up BORING FIGHTS. I just don't get all the dick sucking for such a boring fighter.

FYI, Shields was the better striker, and looks like he was the most effective. He wasn't the most efficient because GSP landed a better %, but Shields actually landed more strikes, and by the looks of their faces, the more effective.

I won't deny that GSP did win the fight, but the blow this out like it was a landslide is laughable. That fight was actually very close.

Lets kill all that greatest on the planet talk. Not even close. There are guys in the MW division he would get manhandled by. The best fighters in the world, the elite of the elite go for the kill. They beat guys at their opponents strength. GSP just does whatever it takes to get a decision.

Fuck, even Machida fights aggressive now, come on!

gsp is getting plenty of blame and rightfully so. one of the drawbacks with being a hater is selective reading.

Based on what? Not losing? Fighting not to lose is fine if you are just trying to get a pay check, but this guy is supposed to be a super athlete and master fighter. Shields proved that he is not a good stand up fighter and his take downs suck. GSP proved....umm, well, I guess he proved he's good at not losing. SixFive and I have been critical of this for the last 2 years and now others have finally caught on. He doesn't have to finish his fights, but it sure would be nice to see him try.

I agree whathisnuts....even though GSP had one eye for the majority of the fight he still should have finished Shields.

Shields one of the most over-hyped fighters on the planet.

GSP should have finished him.

If Shields fights anybody in Top 10 in his next fight....he will lose.

And after that he will lose again.

Shields performance was awful....just awful.

"the bunker"
what i found a little interesting was dana`s take on certain aspects of the card....

after aldo`s gut wrenching throw down with homininck, white was basically castigating aldo for not "throwing more"...for not finishing hominick....

that comment was imo, utterly batshit crazy....he couldn`t finish hominick because the guy has a heart the size of a mack truck....not because he didn`t nearly beat him into a coma...

then, when asked about gsp`s 5th decision in his last 6 fights said,"well you can`t always finish.........that`s how it goes sometimes"...

now i understand his thinking....and i understand that the guy is a major hypocrite....he`s in canada...and gsp was pretty much singularly responsible for putting millions in the ufc coffers...

this is why after thinking it over,i backtracked on my harsh opinion of gsp....he carries a whole nation on his back every time he steps into the ring...and a pretty large part of the ufc`s most rabid fan base originates in canada...and that`s because of gsp,period....that`s some serious pressure...the guy is the ufc`s poster boy...and amazing icon....he`s the face of the ufc at this moment in time....not couture...not penn.....not silva.....gsp is the most recognizable mma fighter on the planet...

but it reinforces my opinion of white as an uber-hypocrite....a guy that ,for me,is really hard to respect....

I guess guys should just suck up losing an eye in a fight and be the same fighter. If the doctor would have heard GSP say in the corner "I can't see out of my eye" they would have stopped the fight. U guys need to give the guy some slack. Those first two rounds were a clinic and Shields was hurt three or four times. He would have been finish in my opinion if the eye problem doesn't exist. I think guys get all worked up about GSP cause Kickserv is so over the top :142smilie Poor GSp has to watch guys like Jones and Silva finish most of their fights like he is supposed to also. Dana says it is tough for GSP to finish guys cause he is fighting the best in the world every fight. He needs to start sending Jones and Silva the best in their divisions then

How can you say someone would've gotten finished had GSPs eye not been fucked up? We don't know that. That's like saying I would've won the mega millions had all my numbers hit. Just retarded statement. I don't think at any point in the entire fight did I ever think the fight was close or in danger of being a finish.

I've grown so accustomed to GSPs fights that he's no longer a legitimate threat of finishing a fight at any point. I don't look at him like I do the elite dangerous fighters.

Of course GSP is getting his fair share of blame, but the NUT HUGGERS can't even come off him just a little and even blame him any. They're making excuses for why! LOL That's the part people on here and in the world have a problem with.

GSP doesn't need to face Anderson because I don't think he could even beat anyone in the top 5 of the MW division yet alone Anderson.

.

How did GSP get cut then? Why does his face look worse than Jake's?

GSP was/is better than Shields. But he didn't dominate every minute of that fight.

 Did I miss it? Did GSP punch himself in the face a few times between the rounds to make it look closer than it actually was?
