My plays so far...

My plays so far...

Yoan Pablo Hernandez -135- Medium
Hernandez, (24 yo) with a solid cuban amatuer background, works everything off the right jab and is a smart and cautious fighter. His biggest weakness is sometimes he forgets to fight tall and gets too close. Licina is a 4 inches shorter, 1-2 brawler with decent power from the right cross. Licina walks straight in without a jab often. Licina's jab is aweful and he over rotates and is off balance after his right cross and is open for a counter. Yoan should take advantage of Licina's crude style.

Yoan recently hitting the pads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=danEgp9Ya_M

Andre Dirrell +130- Medium
Froch had a lot of trouble with Taylor's speed, jab and movement. Imo, Dirrell (27 yo) does all of those things better than Taylor and he does them from the southpaw stance. Froch (32 yo) for the most part is a flat-footed stationary fighter which is how he generates more power on his already heavy hands. Dirrell style should be very hard for Froch to caught up with and Dirrell does not mind winning ugly (just watch the Curtis Stevens fight). Dirrel by UD. The only unknown here is Dirrell's chin, but you can't hit what you can't see.

Good Luck Guys! :00x2

btw, if anyone see a line on Derek Ennis (18-2-1) vs. Eromosele Albert (22-3-1)

or

Raul Martinez (24-1) vs. Jonathan Perez (15-6)

Let me know. :)

All this talk over a 50.oo wager??? You have got to be kidding. That's what you are "taking to the bank" :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie. For half a second I thought you might be a serious gambler.

yeah yeah yeah laugh it up :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

I thought it was pretty funny myself. :142smilie
I think you made me blush :mj1:

I just dont have the money to bet big. But i dont see what the amount of my wager has to do with my knowledge of the sport. You say im not a serious gambler, i think i have a serious gambling problem. there is not much more in the world more serious than money is to me. If you only knew...let me put it to you like this, i work a 9-5 job who doesnt pay me shit. after paying my rent and bills for the month i have about $150 in my pocket to last me almost two weeks. after i place this bet ill have considerably less.

I dont normally bet on boxing (only football) because there are too many intangibles. but when i do bet on boxing, you better believe i know what the fck i am talking about. Ive been waiting for this bet for three monthsand i dont see one figth on schedule im even considering at this point. i KNOW Jermain is gonna win. i only get my money in on boxing when i have the best hand...you can take THAT to the bank.

You can laugh and joke on me all you want. its not going to bother me and if its funny ill laugh right along with you. for real. BUT if jermain does win, if he does whoop that ass, are you still going to be around this thread? Will you be here to take the heat?

:firing: :firing: :firing: :firing: :firing:

Cause im gonna bring it brother......

You know what?....maybe ill up my ante....

How bout $60

or maybe $65

:director: Do i hear $70? :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Bad news my friend, the Mosley/Judah fight was pretty much a done deal, they just had to fight. The only reason the fight was off was because Zab "claimed" he slipped in the shower and cut his arm when it broke into the glass. They had an HBO date and everything already to go. Zab is the one that pulled out.

My point with the Clottey fight, like when he fought Mayweather, Zab doesn't have a true fighters heart. He's a front runner who starts well. Midway in the fight, everything starts to crumble on him and he looks for a way out.

As long as Zab's career has been (43 fights) his overall resume on wins and top opponents faced isn't great. His best win was Spinks, by far. His next best win is who? Corley I suppose. That isn't saying much. As far as the BIG names he has fought, you're looking at two superstars (PBF and Cotto) three good fighters (Spinks, Zoo and Clottey) and some up and down guys (Corley, Baldomir, Witter, Ward). For a career that long, you'd expect more fights against good fighters.

Back to my first statement, Judah and Taylor are the same type of person. Somebody that appears to have the overall talent to make it in the sport, plus they both started their careers in that direction. However, both lately have fumbled the ball and keep doing so. Taylor can be up 11 rounds to none and will still find a way to get KO'd on Sat.. night. It's in his nature to blow it.....

your right, i smoke to much green. but he didnt duck shane. hes just an idiot. shit happens. i never liked zab. i think hes a punk bitch and i would love to have the chance do knock that bling out of his mouth. you keep pointing out instances where he quit or people he lost to. all that is meaningless to what i was suggesting. all i was saying is he has fought the best. he had the courage to test himself. win or lose. it dont matter. and honestly i really dont want to waste another keystroke talking about that chump.

jermain wont blow it saturday night......

passionate responses!
good luck poundforpound
i hope JT puts some cash in your pocket
i think it will be a good fight no matter who wins
:toast:

We all know that:
A) Abraham starts slow, then comes on like a jackhammer
B) Taylor starts like a jackhammer, then goes limp like a wet noodle

Let's see if JT can get him early....I don't like his chances as the fight goes on
this is boxing....theater of the unexpected....and I have never seen anything like 2009.....

Romi will be here, win lose or draw. That is one bet you can "Take to the Bank".

That is one thing about this board, we can all eat humble pie when justified and we are all winning gamblers over the long hall.

You seem like a good chap so I hope you post your boxing observations more often :toast:

Hey Romi, take it easy on the kid. Just because you're a "whale", for some guys $50-$100 clams has some significance. Don't discourage posters from offering opinions by derision. It doesn't serve any purpose. I think he is, as Alan Greespan the former Fed chairman used to say, is having a bout of "irrational exuberance", but we shall see. Keep posting p4p and bet what's comfortable for you.

Agreed Frankie. I thought the guy was coming on a little strong for a newbie but so be it. If he's passionate about his picks then more power to him. Bet amount is 100% irrelevant. My bad for coming across as a pompous ass.

P4P, welcome to the board! Your comments brought in some good boxing discussion. Keep posting and good luck on your play. I agreed with much of what you said about JT. I may have a small play on it myself. Regardless what I may have implied, the bet amount has NO relevance to your knowledge of the sport and props to you for staying in your betting range!!! Peace.

Back to you Frankie, you really think I'm a whale?

i disagree that zab and taylor "are the same type of person".....taylor may not utilize his natural talent properly in all his fights...but by all reports,he`s a relatively decent guy...a straight shooter(in spite of his recent brush with the law in miami....i do think maybe grasping defeat from the jaws of victory vs froch may be affecting taylor negatively)....

judah is also an underachiever, but to say that judah is a steaming p.o.s. is an insult to steaming pieces of shit everywhere....his entire career is littered with craziness and controversy...

i really don`t think taylor has come close to reaching judah`s level of feckless arrogance and ignorance...

You missed my point man. I'm just saying as far as talent level, how that results into the ring, they are both huge disappointments.

Okay fellas...Let's bring it in...time for a group hug!!! :142smilie

I've actually been following the footnall handicappers on this site since 1999. I just never created a user name and I dont trust myself picking football games i rather get insight from others and then make my picks.

fair enough....i read the statement "the same type of <s>fighter</s> person" literally and should have realized you meant "fighter" by the context of the rest of your statement....

i agree that taylor has been a disappointment...zab is just plain mentally defective...

judah may well have had as much natural speed and ability as any fighter to ever lace em up...his speed is ridiculous...he`s a lefty...and he has power...

but at some point, somebody reached in that semi-empty gourd and scooped out what was left of his frontal lobe....

btw...ain`t this place great?...

you can pop by early in the morning or late at night and pick up on interesting conversations, info or just some good natured shin-kicking....

honestly, this is like a degenerate gambler/boxing afficionado theme park for adults.......

and kudos to romi and relative newbie p4p for handling their situation well...a little snarky, but not downright mean or personally insulting....

it should be reiterated that we can disagree...maybe even get punched in the nuts(good naturedly),put it aside and move on without harboring any personal animosity...

says alot about our group...

well played,dudes!:toast:

pitalua-1500..negron +700/5 dimes

Dimes has quite a few futures out as well. Khan -750:nono: :nono: :nono:. I was hoping, perhaps dreaming, Khan would be -3 to -400. I give the obnoxious Russian virtually no chance. I took Clottey -200. Williams is the slight favorite v Pav and I'd expect that line to be a neck and neck race til fight time. Props to dimes for all the new lines.

Agreed Weasel :toast:

If you like boxing and gambling like I do, this is the place to be.
A lot of intelligent arguing without name calling is what is different than on other sites.
And yeah, a little friendly shin-kicking is welcome 'cause it keeps things interesting.
