and this is so rare in other forums. Thats way I barely post at any other place. :)

@romi
completely agree on Kahn Salita. I'm actually still thinking about Khan as parlay material.

BTW, what do you guys think about
mcalister king
I just wathed the prizefighter episode and King looked pretty crappy. pretty amateurish technique and absolutely no power. I dont think he has a real shot here, McAlister is the home fighter as well. I'm acutally considering the under here, +170 at the greek. King looked kind of lost after only 3 rounds at prizefighter and he hasnt faced even a remotely big puncher.

Taylor is fighting Kessler in Denmark next....supposedly.
It was discussed in the Fight 360 countdown show.

Not sure who Abraham fights next.

That is worrisome. But he got caught as clean a a guy could and got up. looked OK and won. And he hasn't been touched since then and he's mixed against much better. Of course, if he sticks his head up in the air Froch will drop him, too.

I'll retract what I said. Salita has a chance albeit a snowballs chance. If Mtagwa can nearly pull off the impossible and Salagado pull off major upset, then Salita certainly has a shot. Given Khans previous chin issues, it wouldn't be the biggest upset ever. That being said, I think Khan romps but not willing to lay the wood @-750.

I took McCalister @-600 and -588. King has 0 kos in 15 wins and 1 loss. The line is rather wide now.

That shot would have dropped an elephant. It kind of reminds me of the shot Tarver landed on Jones. I don't think it shows a chin issue at all but perhaps a momentary lapse in concentration on defense...lesson learned hopefully. It's worrisome that the guy who landed was just a journeyman level fighter but IMO it was a Sunday punch and it happens. Direll needs to fight a smart fight and not get stupid to pull off the upset. I think he does it.

Right! I was just looking at Dirrell and even now he leaves himself open (not as bad as that KD)and catches a bit but he's so damn quick when he catches the other guy the opponent will start wobbling or will try to cover up as Andre explodes with a fusillade of shots where he's behind and on the side of the guy and then he's pushing them back and down after the combo. He's so fast he's like Curly on Wild Hyacinth for those Stooges fans out there. :142smilie :142smilie :mj07: :mj07:

He was also dropped by Hanshaw in the first round, thought it wasnt ruled a knockdonw.
Another thing about Dirrell, he really runs a lot and sometimes he draws straight back and leaves his chin up in the air. A fast fighter with good anticipation and footwork could really explo?t that. now, that doesnt sound like Carl Froch. ;-)
but anyways, I'm not as confident about that pick anymore...

At the 30 second mark you can see just how clumsy Vitali is. Too bad Arreola couldn't exploit that::mj07: :mj07: :142smilie :142smilie :00x12 :00x12

Well, these are my bets for the week.

Good sized bets-

Hunter to beat Booth at +220. Hunter is the far bigger man and the fight is considered hometown for him.
I have heard rumours that Hunter is looking shit-hot in training while Booth has been suffering from a cold for a couple of weeks.

Hernandez to beat Licina at -135. I actually thought the odds might be better.
Hernandez is skilled shit while Licena is just plain shit.

Taylor to beat Abraham at +244. JT is still a very skilled fighter and Abraham is so painfully economical with his punches that JT might just pull this out.

My BIG bet for the week-

Dirrell to beat Froch at +140. I think Caveman Froch is going to be hit by an accumilation of punches that he just does not see coming. If he thought JT was a fast, snappy puncher, he is in for a rude awakening in this fight.
I LOVE the You Tube video of Dirrell getting decked as it shows me that he can take a cracking shot and recover.

Small bet on Dirrell ITD at +470. If Dirrell can hurt Froch like JT did, then I expect Froch to be finished this time.

Good luck all!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Yeah, that should have been a KD. He can be sloppy but he gets away with it with his reflexes. He's got to be smart, but I could see him walking Froch into something and if he hurts him, he'll have a mini explosion on Froch's dome.

My main bet of the week will be Abraham (straight, ITD, and to win in the last 6 rounds).
Both fighers are just so predictable in my opinion. JT starts fast and fades quickly, Abraham starts slow and usually walks down his opponents in the second half of the fight. I expect the same here.

As for the Dirrell fight, I really like his confidence and he's wayy ahead in terms of speed and technique.
But, those knockdowns are somewhat concerning. ok, he recovered, but he got hurt in the first place (and that twice and by non-punchers). I'm not sold on his reflexes (or his defence) either, Hanshaw really didnt have much trouble to find him, thought he was seriously outgunned at the end. And thats another point, Dirrell I feel has the power to hurt almost anybody in this tourney. So, actually, depending on the approach both fighters take, I could envision almost any ending. I'm still on Dirrell, albeit only small.

I'm on Hunter as well. When I took a look at this fight for the first time, I thought I would pass, but I didnt really consider the weight factor (Booth started his career at a much lower weight). Hunter can be hurt, but his size advantage might help him here. BTW, thanks weepaul for the insigt. I heard that Hunter was in good shape, but I didnt know about the cold.

BTW, do you guys think Hernandez will win a dec!?
Licina comes across as tough and determined. (bwin:+350).
High risk fight IMO!

Hernandez hasn't fought a live body since his loss; journeyman Simms had him backpedalling for the last half of the fight.

Licina might well be too green, but he's determined and can punch/ take a punch.

I see only two results here; Hernandez on points or Licina by KO.

All right, here we go. Busy week in and out of the ring. Excellent insight, debate, and opinions on the forum this week. Big money week, and my plays are as follows:

Dirrell - Big. Dirrell too fast and electric. I think he has the potential to be a very special fighter. Some learning curves early, but I think he puts it together here, and beats the hell out of a willing Froch.

Licina - Med. Smart money seems to be going on Hernandez, but I really don't see why. Hernandez is not just a little chinny - he is like that Glass Joe guy from the old video game. The way he collapsed against Braithwaite was embarrassing. To be decked hard, and almost out by Michael Simms even more so. Licina has looked tough to me, perhaps a bit crude. Hernandez will be winning on points until he gets flattened.

J.Taylor - med/small. I just like him in this spot. I think he knows his career is in deep shit if he loses. Abraham is damn strong, but a bit plodding, slow, and often not quite active enough. Taylor is extremely sharp early and will build points. The big question is stamina here, and I think Taylor will find a way to solve his apparent issue, and win a hard-earned points decision

Also small wagers on Hunter, Ayala, and that Perez tough guy over hyped Brandon Rios. Perez fought him to a disputed draw not too long ago, so why he is at +500 I have no idea. Rios is over-rated and this fight is all but even money to me.

Someone on forum said Hunter was bigger than Booth and looking sharp. I agree. Not long ago Hunter was thought of as very near world class. Booth a former fly, with a loss to diminutive Ian Napa.

Ayala is much-improved and a hard worker. This could be the right medicine against a skilled, but less than urgent Simon.

Good luck to all. Let's see how it unfolds. :box2:

We have a lot of similar plays this week. I'm big on Direll. If all other bets lose and this one wins, I'll still be happy. Also small plays on JT and Hunter and the overs on the Ayala and Perez fights. Best of luck to you!

Appreciate the kind words on a previous post:toast: :toast: :toast:

"the bunker"
I keep going back and forth on Froch and Dirrell.
I know Dirrell has the speed and boxing skills to win, but this worries me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEM2hVz3wfo

and you can argue that hanshaw had him down in the 1st.....

man, fighting in the u.k....going a full 12 in retreat in front of a hostile crowd.......not an easy thing to do.....

i have dirrell, but as the fight slides closer,i`m having second thoughts....

He won't be in full retreat. He'll keep Froch honest and clip him with fight sapping shots.
