Hello Q

I fear that Oquendo's punch-and-clutch style wins no favour with the judges. Some very close fights have gone against him but he gives a judge the opportunity to score rounds for the other guy. I believe he was officially behind on points against Ruiz.

I think you're exactly right about the judges in Oquendo fights... Also yes, I think he was just a bit behind against Ruiz by the time it got stopped. If I remember correctly, he was out to an early lead and boxing very well, but by the time of the stoppage Ruiz was coming on strongly.

I'm not gonna say that Klitschko was 'afraid' of Chisora, or that Chisora was gonna upset him or anything, but I do think he was a fairly tough proposition. He's young, strong, undefeated, and maybe just crazy enough to have made it a brawl. Klit's back may well have been hurt, but it sure took him long enough to figure that out. He didn't hurt it through any of his difficult training, so how? Getting out of a car? Sleeping on it wrong? Just maybe, like Oddessa just said, he wasn't tip-top and just decided why? What did he really have to gain from a fight with Chisora when more lucrative and defining matches are just around the corner? I think Klit may have slipped out the backdoor on this one.

However, during his final workout hitting the pads with trainer Emanuel Steward, Klitschko suffered the injury, manager Bernd Boente told ESPN.com.

"He was hitting the mitts and it just happened," Boente said. "The fight is canceled. The pain is extreme. He couldn't even sit in the car on the way to the hospital." Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) had gone through a public workout earlier in the day, although they are light and just for show. However, Boente said a couple of hours later, he was working with Steward for real when he felt a sudden pain.

Boente said Klitschko, 34, underwent a CT scan and was diagnosed with a 2-inch tear on the left side of his abdominal muscle near the bottom of his rib cage.

"The doctor said he needs four to six weeks to heal," Boente said. "Wladimir has never had to cancel a fight before. He is totally upset. He had a great training camp in the Austrian mountains. He was in fantastic shape and he's very, very upset and very sad. And not only for him but for all the people who bought tickets to the sold-out arena. We were all looking forward to the fight. We are sorry for the fans and for our TV partners. What can you do?

These late-hour cancellations are a nightmare. When I used to go to the fights on site frequently it was my big concern that the fight would actually take place.

My pal Glyn (editor of Boxing Monthly) had two horrible experiences of travelling from the UK for a fight only for the fight to be cancelled.

i remember my friend flew from england to watch marquez vs juarez, vargas vs mayorga and i think a sergio mora fight(anyone remember who he was supposed to fight? lol) i think this was 2007

ALL THREE FIGHTS WERE RESCHEDULED OR CANNED

marquez-juarez got shoved to tucson, arizona, vargas-mosley was pushed to after thanksgiving giving us that bloated ferocious fernando after turkey day outpointed by el matador lol

I've got a small-type parlay with the 3 favorites on tomorrow's Adamek card, together getting me about -250.

Adamek -4500
Ali -1750
Majewski -360

This is basically a play on Majewski I think. He seems like a fairly skilled sort, and has been steadily brought along. Caminero seems like a tough-guy, but not skilled enough here.

Cleverly has been kept on the England card. Now fighting EU Champ Nadjib Mohammedi. Not much of a step down at all from original opponent Lakatos. Clev should win clear, just like against Lakatos. Nice to see they are keeping him going.

JA Rosas vs. C. Mijares ???

JA Rosas vs. C. Mijares ???

I think Rosas vs. Mijares is canceled as well??? Boxrec still listing, but according to the weigh-in for the card, Fernando Montiel is now the main against Jovanny Soto. Also, a good undercard bout that is listed on Boxrec, Joksan Hernandez vs. Jorge Lacierva appears to be scrapped. Weekend dossier thinning fast.

Hope you bet the under. Odessa liked it a lot but I was scared away by adameks lack of power at heavyweight.

It worked out for me this time
:0074

Adamek still let me down big time against Grant, but Kathy Duva knew what she was doing here tonight. Getting the Pole a KO against a club fighter.

Said Ouali vs. Randall Bailey

Said Ouali vs. Randall Bailey

Puzzled at the lack of lines still at sportsbook, so I'm going to have to go w/ this fight here first. No weigh-in photos online still, but fightnews.com reports Bailey weighed in at 143.2 and Ouali weighed in at 146.5. When analyzing Bailey's weight, at first I thought to myself why, being as how he's now a welterweight and fought his last two fights at or above the 147 limit, but despite being a career junior welter, most of his fights he's actually fought in that 143 neighborhood. Ouali's listed as the favorite at -290. He has leaky defense for sure. Against Irving Garcia, which fight commentary mentioned Ouali concentrated on upping his defense, meaning his defense was worse before, Garcia connected w/ many rights while pawing w/ the left jab, which we know is Bailey's trademark, and nobody arguably hits harder than him. Ouali doesn't have too much movement, but is def. not as stationary as Jackson Osei Bonsu. Ouali was trained three years ago by Bailey's current trainer John David Jackson, just a thought. The over/under being 8.5, I don't see this one going that far and I'm taking the under, to go along w/ Bailey for +230.
