Georgia vs Uruguay

Very interesting betting heat. As the Racing Post pointed out today, while the games between the minnows are not the best in terms of standards, they often turn out to be the best betting heats. Well that is about all I agree with what the Racing Post have to say as they are advising a 15 point bet on Georgia.
How anybody can confidentally back Georgia conceding up to thirteen points is beyond me. Hoss has already stated a lot of valid angles on this match. What we are seeing is a gross overeaction to Georgia's result against the Springboks. But South Africa were bad, and I already said that I thought they made Georgia look good and not vice versa. The 'rest' factor is also very important. However, there are other factors that are important to this match that have not already been mentioned. Looking at both teams lineups, Uruguay definitely have the players playing for the better clubs. While some are still playing in South America, there are others that are playing at the top of French rugby, for clubs like Brive and Begles, while Georgia have few players playing at a high standard, while a handful of their line up remain unattached even.
Secondly, in the run up to this World Cup, Uruguay proved very competitive against teams like Canada and the USA in the Pan-American tournament, and that form is turning out to be useful with American proving to be a relative force in this tournament. Georgia on the other hand were beaten by Romania at home, and struggled to put away the Czech Republic.
I am perhaps not disputing the fact that Georgia may marginally be the better team, but I have a issue with them being labelled nearly two tries better than the South Americans, and thus, will take Uruguay with the start.

1 Point Uruguay (+13) at 5/6 with Bet365

I cant believe the betting in the Georgia match

You can get 3-1 Uruguay

Have to take this as I actually had Uruguay favourite.

Georgia have done nothing that make me think they desrve to be fav let alone this short.

If they win it may help to forgive the country after they knocked Australia out of the soccer World Cup

2pts Uru @ 3-1

cameron, you can watch the rugby on fox sports world if you have extended cable mate. Channel 273 down here in texas. Maybe it's a different number up there mate but that's the channel you need anyway. All the best with your rugby punting.:D

Bomber - thanks for the heads up. I will have to check my local fox sports channel. Do they show games live or just replays so that they are at more normal times for U.S. viewers?

Great result for the forum this morning. It is actually very pleasing to see so many people join in on the rugby. There are people in this forum that have been posting consistent winners for months, and yet get little coverage, so lets hope the Rugby World Cup changes this. I am sure that Hoss, Pumpkin and others agree that it means a lot to see so many joining in.

Canada vs Tonga

A very good match up tomorrow morning. Both sides are smarting from being hammered by the mighty All Blacks, while both have performed admirably against Italy and Wales.
Tonga have rang the changes for tomorrows clash on the back of the game against the All Blacks. They recieve a big boost with the return of their Number 8 and skipper, Benhur Kivalu, who was awesome against Wales and looks sure to leave Japanese club Sanix for a more prominent club on the back of his performances to date. They will rely heavily on his ball carrying skills against the Canucks.
However, he is on his own in the forwards, and while the Tongans have some pretty useful backs, Sililo Martens, and the very impressive Gus Leger at fullback, they are drastically short of playing experience at this level. Excluding the players I have mentioned the remaining thirteen players have just 103 caps between them, which makes them look extremely vulnerable, paticularly in their front five, where the Canucks will look to dominate.
Canada in contrast, enter the game with a lot of sentimentality involved. Long serving Canadian legends Al Cherron, Bob Ross, Winston Stanley, Rod Snow and Mike James could well be playing their last ever World Cup game and will be looking to sign out with a bang. These players have more caps between them than a large boy scouts group, and this will surely be a factor in tomorrows game.
They will be encouraged by the way their team played in defeat against Italy and the All Blacks, and will target this game as their chance to win their remaining game. What happens to Canadian rugby after these guys retire remains to be seen (maybe Kyle can get his boots on and play a few games :p ), but while these guys remain in the squad, they have more than a good chance of beating the Tongans.

2 Points Canada (+5) available at 10/11 Generally :canada1

Would not put anybody off betting Canada on the ML, but for purposes of the thread, will post my play on the spread.

Good Luck :)

:D Beat me to it this time!!

2pts Canada (+5) 10/11 v Tonga

I made this a scratch game, so I'll happily take the 5 start. Can't add a lot to Crookys excellent write -up, but I'm pleased to see that Canada have included Josh Jackson in the starting 15, as their line out was a shambles against Italy until he came on. In a game as tight as this good ball will be vital. I think that cappers are prone to overestimating the 'sexy' pacific teams as opposed to the more functional, better drilled sides like Canada + the USA.
Also, Tonga played on Friday + you know how much i like that stat! ;) Tonga gave Wales much more of a game than Canada did, according to the scores, but remember how Wales kicked clear late on v Canada + how long the Canucks held on against NZ.
Don't want a forum blow-out, so lets hope we can all cheer on another winner together :D

Hoss,

Not sure if you are on yet, but Canada (+5.5) is trading at around 10/11 on Betfair. I had part of my 1.9 matched, and am just waiting for the remaining amount to be matched at 1.92.

Thats where I played, so hope it helps. ;)

Adding

4   pts Romania (-17) v Namibia 10/11

decided to play up some winnings + have a proper crack at this one. I have Romania 26pts superior, before you take into account the battering Namibia took on Saturday vs the Aussies. I've said all along that the Namibians are totally outclassed - I don't usually like backing weak sides giving starts, but this is an exception :p . 2 memories stand out for me - the way the Romanian pack fought against the Irish in their 45-17 defeat + the way the Namibian pack collapsed like a pack of cards vs the Argies. I fancy they'll be a pushover try or two here + will be looking out for a 1st tryscorer bet or two ;) . The weather forecast is fine so no excuses on that front either. I could go on for ages...but it's time to lock + load :firing:

hoss :D

ps posting early, as I can only see this line going one way!!

Canada 24 Tonga 7 :D

Looks like the whole forum was on this one! :)

Game went pretty much as planned - Canada's line out was excellent, as was their ball control - they didn't have the attacking flair of the Tongans but I'll take the technically sounder side every time! Just hope Al Charron is Ok - that was a sickening incident (although I don't think the tackle itself was that bad).

Roll on Romania - off to get some more on ;)

Record 15/9 + 14.8pts
